    Do you break spokes?

Same from New Zealand, a 2017 Vado 3 rider (75kg + 15kg of panniers). No problems until ~4,000km then 4 spokes break in succession over the next 800-1000km. All 4 breaks were at the nipple end, so my LBS has rebuilt the rear wheel for me. They've used Wheelsmith spokes and brass nipples. Now...

Mission Control App - Turbo Vado Solution Now Available

Burkes Cycles just replaced the old BLOKS display on my May 2017 Vado3 with the new model, no charge. I really like the more accurate battery% readout but Eco seems to be more powerful than I remember. The bike stopped working as a e-bike on the way to work last week, which made for a good...

    Do you break spokes?

Two broken spokes in the last two weeks. My Vado 3 has 4,400 km on it now. These are only the first and second spoke failures I've had. None at all until two weeks ago when the first happened. My riding hasn't changed; same mix of road, gravel and single track trails in my daily commute. Both...

Yet, another new Vado 3.0 owner

I tip the bike over against the stand and lean it against the wall so as the rear tyre is off the ground and the bike weight holds it there. Then clean in the normal manner except you're rotating the cranks forward. Starting with a dirty chain flood it with Rock N Roll Extreme dry lube while...

Yet, another new Vado 3.0 owner

Hi lewes5, I too am an avid vado3 rider and very happy with the bike. My first chain lasted 1100km after which I upgraded to a 48T chainring and replaced the rear cassette with a 11/42 Deore. Much smoother shifting and no less a climbing ability in the hills around here. I'm cleaning the chain...

Vado 3.0: Worn out cassette after 450 miles

rich c: Some would replace it, but I'll wait until it gets to 0.75%. Check out the Park Tool pic attached with their recommendations as to chain replacement. There might be wear on the chainring but the chain stays on, it's quiet and I don't have to spend more time cleaning it than riding...

Vado 3.0: Worn out cassette after 450 miles

My 48T chainring is holding up surprisingly well. Pic here shows the wear on the teeth after 2,600km. It's the end of winter here and I'm lubing with Rock N Roll Extreme weekly (~100km). The current chain is just over 0.5% so I should get at least two maybe three more chains before I need to...

Vado 3.0: Worn out cassette after 450 miles

coffeemaker: It is. Here's the link the Specialized Importer sent me when they couldn't get their one to me. https://www.ebay.com/itm/DECKAS-Bike-Narrow-Wide-Round-Oval-Chainring-Chain-Ring-BCD104mm-32T-52T-FREE-US-/253225374385 Luv2ride: I agree with your comments about an ebike not needing...

Vado 3.0: Worn out cassette after 450 miles

The original Sunrace 11/40 cassette on my Vado 3 lasted 1,100km, after which I threw it away. It was noisy and shifted badly and I was only using the lower two cogs (20mph/32km/hr max) with the original 40t chainring resulting in a high cadence. I swapped the chain ring for a 48T aftermarket...

    Vado 3.0 Battery Life

Got 35 miles (55km) from my 2017 Vado 3 w original 460whr battery on the flat, original tyres, eco mode <25km/hr, no head wind. After that averaging ~40km hilly commute to/from work, before needing to recharge. Nowhere near the 75km Specialized claimed I would get originally. They obviously...

Experience with the Turbo Vado 3.0

Hey PaD, Maybe my kms are longer than yours :) I've been thinking about the Riese & Muller dual battery Delite or Super charger bikes for their increased range, but they are expensive. Perhaps I need a spinnaker for better downwind performance.

    Alternative forks for Vado 3

Anyone tried any alternative forks on the Vado bikes? I see Suntour do a fork with double the travel of the stock forks, so 100mm. Suspension Fork NCX-E25 SF17 ( Lo-R ) 28″ Qr15 for about $350 US. I really like the look of the Riese & Muller Delight GX bikes, but the price is eye watering...

Experience with the Turbo Vado 3.0

Hey Joe :) Mine has 3,700km on it now (~ 2,500mls?) Anyway, it never did the distance Specialized claimed on the original battery, but damn it felt great! I'm 70kg (155lbs) and got 55km out of it on the flat in Eco, whereas they claimed 75km. Did they have a tail wind all the way? Anyway...

Known Issues & Problems with Specialized Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Vado 3 (2017) - 3,200km report. Last week I noticed the lexan over the bike ON/OFF switch, on the battery, was cracked and the bottom part that flexes was missing. Today my LBS replaced the original battery with a 604Whr version from Specialized NZ. Thanks guys excellent service :). I've also...

    Another Kiwi

I've not had to remove the cranks yet, even to fit the new chainring, so I can't say. Couple of pics added looking at Wellington city from Mt Victoria and South towards Wellington airport. cheers

    Another Kiwi

Hey Guys, great to catch up. Quadracer - NZ Vado3 bikes initially came as the 20mph (32km/hr) version. But as 28mph (45km/hr) is legal here and are available in the US Specialized were happy to reflash it for the higher limit. Mine doesn't quite get to 45, but 43 is easy and way better than...

    Another Kiwi

Hi from Wellington, New Zealand. I've been riding my Specialized Vado 3 for over a year now and have 2,800km on it. I tried a lot of different ebikes before the Vado. I can't believe how well it fitted straight out of the box and how much it felt like a normal bike. Still, there have been a...
