One battery 55 mile round trip and my butt is done and that is my limit, than i need few days to recover. My son`s best day on a normal bike was 134 mile round trip that took him 14 hours and he was happy to get on the bike next morning.

Any other suggestions of what works for you that I should definitely consider looking at or staying away from.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like your phase wires are not in right order hence the "click sound",sometimes the wire color of replacement part is not same order as original.

One could always install a battery cullometer to monitor your battery.
