Turbo Tero 5.0 motor noise issue resolution

I bought my Tero 5.0 in November of last year. The motor has always been a bit louder than I expected, especially in turbo under load, but lately the noise level has been steadily increasing to the point that after about just two miles it sounded like it had an external speaker announcing its...

    Shimano vs SRAM

I’m upgrading my wife’s Tero 3.0 drivetrain but staying with cable shifting. Currently it has a Shimano 11-36 9 speed, and a 36T chainring. It’s going to a 44T chainring and something between 11–42 and 11-50 cassette, 11 or 12 speed. 11-46 11 speed would be fine. Need to maintain the bottom end...

Need help choosing Shimano components, or….?

I have a Specialized Tero 3.0 (my wife’s bike) and while its a nice bike and a good platform to work with, I need to modify the drive train for our type of riding. Currently it has the following hub and cassette: hub: Shimano MT400-B, Centerlock, 12x148 Boost, 32h cassette: Shimano CS-HG400...

    Resist all negative thinking…

I’ve been putting off posting about this since I first joined this forum, hoping I guess that it was an anomaly or isolated instance. But apparently it isn’t out of the norm, and I really think this is worth some consideration. My post from another thread on the issue: “I just really don’t get...

    Fun ride in town today

Visited Auburn Ca today. First half was in the canyon for some hills, views, and a good workout. Second half into town for lunch and riding in some local traffic. A nice balanced enjoyable couple hours in town.

    A few drivetrain questions:

Not sure I really have these questions organized but they stem from making some minor mods to my Spec Tero, so here they are: 1. what tools are needed to change a cassette? I saw this tool today ( https://www.jensonusa.com/Foundation-Bike-Chain-Whip-Tool-Chain-Whip ) but I’m sure there is more...

    Building up bike chains

Good Morning! Now that I’m in the tinkering mode, I want to be able to build up custom chains to allow chain ring and possible cassette swaps. I’ve built 100’s (maybe more) of chainsaw chains, but never worked on bike chain. Can someone point me in the right direction for bulk chain and a chain...

Looking for a MTB for an 11 year old grandson

I want to buy a nice new bike for an 11 year old grandson, but unfortunately he lives with two brothers, the three collectively being known as The Wrecking Crew, but individually the kid in question is smart, respectful, and somewhat introspective. I think he’s ready for a nice bike but I’m...

A really good handle bar cell phone mount?

I’ve tried two different mounts and both were under $20 so admittedly cheap, and neither does the job sufficiently. What I’m looking for is something that will hold the phone without fail (both of mine seem to do this but they haven’t been tested in rigorous conditions), is not big and bulky...

    Turbo Tero 5.0 first impressions

I finally brought my Tero 5.0 home yesterday afternoon after a two week wait, charged the battery, did a little more reading and fiddling around with gadgets, and this afternoon had a chance to go for a quick ride. I rode on pavement, gravel, dirt, up and down hills, across a dozen cattle...

    The first bike is home

Some modifications to perform and some stuff to add, but here she is in all her brand new E-MTB glory: Turbo Tero 3.0 with the “Urban” kit. These bikes are our Christmas presents to ourselves! My 5.0 should be in next week.

    New to e-bikes…

…so new in fact, that I don’t even have them yet. I bougt two Specialized Teros - a 3.0 for my wife and a 5.0 for me. When shopping I also looked at Giant and Trek, but for a variety of reasons chose Specialized. Initially I ordered two 3.0s but after doing some range calcs on the Specialized...
