    Possible downside to speed pedelec / class 3 / 28 MPH ?

There's another drawback to Class 3 pedelecs -- not technical but legal. In Washington State, Class 3 pedelecs are subject to severe limitations. (1) They are banned from mixed-use trails, meaning bike paths where people are walking (except where local laws allow them). (2) They cannot be...

Let's Organize a Centennial Trail Ride in Western Washington

I live in Ballard and would love to do that ride. I have an ebike-capable hitch-mounted rack that carries two bikes.

What lock do you use to protect your ebike?

I'm thinking this could eliminate the need to lock the front wheel, as well as the seat, seat post, handlebars, etc. Anyone have any experience with these products? They even have a front through-axle coming in October, per their site.

Over 50's Charger GX HS Rohloff chronicles

Your cat does not appear very impressed with the bike. Perhaps taking him/her on a ride would be in order? :) I'm eagerly awaiting the Supercharger GX Rohloff HS that R&M offered me at the same price as the Charger GX Rohloff HS I had ordered. They said the last batch of Charger frames was...

Hi from Seattle! I'm eager to learn as much as possible about ebikes generally and, more specifically, about Riese & Muller, the bike I'm awaiting, and its components. I'd welcome hearing from anyone with experience or informed opinions. My bike is due for delivery in early August, and I'm...

Flying with Electric Bike Batteries? Tips and Advice

FedEx says it will ship 500 watt-hour batteries from the U.S. internationally. For example, from Seattle to Orli Airport in Paris, FedEx would impose a $146 HazMat fee. That's on top of freight charges, which would be $468.93 for a package 12" square weighing 12 lbs. and worth $1,000 (I just...
