Almost a year and about 2k (?) miles with the CCS. A quick visit to update:

https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/cross-current-s-question-s.22353/page-3 In this post Reid thoughtfully provided links to his drive components. Lots of good info on this thread concerning chain drop.

    3000 miles. Dude, you're a riding machine.

Almost a year and about 2k (?) miles with the CCS. A quick visit to update:

Here's a great article that helped me upgrade the derailleur without even having to remove the rear wheel. http://faqload.com/faqs/bicycle-components/drivetrain/using-a-clutch-rear-derailleur-with-9-speed-or-even-8-speed As for the chainring, I run a Deckas 56 tooth narrow/wide. The CCS is a...

Almost a year and about 2k (?) miles with the CCS. A quick visit to update:

Glad to see Reid on the forum again. My CCS is doing great after 9 months and about 1200 miles. I upgraded to a Shadow Plus derailleur and narrow/wide ring also, and it has been well worth the modest expenditure of money and effort. My spokes have never needed attention and my battery hasn't...

Sudden loss of power for 1 second

I've not had this problem myself. If you were losing the connection at the battery terminals, I suspect you'd have to power the bike back up with the display button. I think perhaps a faulty brake switch or a short in the wiring associated with those switches could be to blame. I hope you get...

How Important are Disc Brakes for a Heavy Rider?

Neccessary? Not so much. I find mechanical discs to be adequate, although fiddly and noisy. In my experience hydraulic disc brakes offer superior modulation, don't require nearly as much maintenance, and are quieter. Ten years from now mechanical brakes will be a footnote in bicycling history, imho

    My handlebars keep coming loose

You say it's fine after tightening and then loosens up with use. A drop of blue Loctite on the threads will prevent it from loosening up, and also cuts down on the temptation to over torque the fastener. Be sure to use blue, not red. The red is virtually permanent. Any auto parts store will...

    Rude remarks by non-ebikers

It was a big deal when Bob Dylan switched to electric guitar. The purists berated his art and called him a sellout. We all have our reasons for ebiking and we needn't justify them to numbskulls on the street.

Latex Gloves for Cold Weather Riding

A couple of pairs in the toolkit for emergencies sounds good. In case of weather or mechanical trouble.

    Ocean Current Owners

I hooked up my CCS headlight to the unused plug and it works. We ordered the 10w 1050 lumen headlight from juiced about a month ago, it showed to be in stock at the time, but still hasn't shipped. It's a good light, and plugs right in, but frankly, I haven't had good luck ordering accessories...

Latex Gloves for Cold Weather Riding

Oh sorry, I meant nitrile, not neoprene. Just disposable blue painter's gloves.

Latex Gloves for Cold Weather Riding

Last spring I tried neoprene gloves under regular gloves because I was reentering the sport and hadn't sourced a good pair of bicycle gloves yet. I didn't find them very warm, although they do help in a pinch. A good pair of wind resistant bicycle gloves is much more comfortable, imo

Adding an LCD Display to a Juiced OceanCurrent?

Nice looking bike. Are those the handlebars that came on it?

    Ocean Current Owners

Mine came with several loose spokes and the brakes were a bugger to get adjusted. Also the handlebar slipped easily in the stem. Once sorted out though, it's a blast to ride. The fat tires and long, thin handlebar absorb road irregularities well. Lots of traction in corners. Peppy motor...

"E-bikes to face speed limits on popular Seattle trails"

Banning class 3 bikes is wrong. They don't ban Corvettes from residential neighborhoods because they have the potential to go really fast. I'm an older guy who just wants to ride my ebike responsibly, without being hassled by Barney Fife.

Adding an LCD Display to a Juiced OceanCurrent?

I got an Ocean Current for my wife, and it's a really fun bike. Let us know how you like it.

Help please with choosing a bike for rail trail commute

Make sure your rail-trail is friendly to class 3 before you buy. Many are class 1 & 2 only, if they allow ebikes at all.

    cross current s question(s)

I bought my CCS in March, 2018. I've kept a close eye on the spokes because of trouble with earlier models, and I've never even had to tighten one. Both wheels are still pretty true after about 1500 miles. I ride on smooth roads, no curb hopping or stairs.

    Ocean Current Owners

It's a fun bike, the geometry puts you in a relaxed position, not great for powerful pedal strokes, but the motor is very peppy so it works out.

Thanks for sharing pics and experiences. These bikes are very good looking, especially the step-through compared to other step-through ebikes.
