    Serial 1 Announcement Discussion

I recall there was some discussion a short while back that the site was experiencing a reduced number of submitted bikes, and it was really only the mainstream big volume bikes coming through. I guess the manufacturer/local shop has to provide a bike and pay a fee for the reviews, and that...

Slowly figuring it out - slow down, stop touching the throttle

Absolutely, and my personal use model pretty much requires a second battery due to the increased energy required. I still factor in the ability to eliminate my gas consumption by not having to cart the bike around town for those rides to be a net gain in convenience and reduction in my total...

Slowly figuring it out - slow down, stop touching the throttle

I'm with foofer on this one for many of my rides. If I want to explore an area more than say 20kms away from home, It takes me a long time to get there at pedal-only speeds, and my schedule (or butt) don't always permit half-to-full-day rides. If I take the higher speed approach, I can make...

    Need to get a grip

Ergon GP's are very popular. I have a set of gp5's on one bike and like them a lot. Particularly on narrow bars where I like the additional wider grip option. And alternative to consider if you like molded grips is the SQLabs, which can be used with or without matching inner bar ends. I have...

How many ebikes do you have?

2 One 750w hub, and a second 1000w mid drive. Just gave away an older one that I had bought my mother, but she can't ride any more. Would like to fit a kit on one of my old acoustic DH bikes just for fun though. We'll see...

Not riding again until I install mirrors

I have one ebike that I use downtown for errands and grocery runs, with folding bar end mirrors on both sides. The other commuter and trail bike has one long-arm standard mirror. When riding IN traffic, including combined bike lanes (Painted-line separation only), I would definitely call them...

    Fireproof battery bag?

I think at the price point, for a transport and storage bag, it might work well for some. I might even consider it for occasional trips where I want to charge in the hotel room, etc, because with the long handles it could perhaps buy enough time to drag the hot bag out onto the step or balcony...

    Bike stands for eBike maintenance

Better yet, mount it on the backhoe bucket, and you'll have 360 degree power tilt too! Work on it in any conceivable position. lol

    Bike stands for eBike maintenance

I just recently found the PRS-25 on sale from a Canadian shop, so I ordered one. Looks promising, so I guess we'll see when it arrive. Seems to be one of the few that are truly rated for the weight of the larger e-bikes.

    Bike stands for eBike maintenance

OK, this is the most disgusting 'flex' I have ever seen on this site! lol :-D Is my jealousy showing?! :-P

Help with my Ultra: Would you please do me a favor?

Mine doesn't have an LED. The sensor location is a bit tricky too, the magnet has to be in the middle of the sensor, not towards the big round end like you might think.

    Fastener Torque Specs

Must mean it's unlimited. Better get the impact gun to be safe! lol (But seriously, don't do that....) ;-)

    Thule easyfold

Is it the entire rack flexing, or just play in the receiver socket? Most racks have play in a standard 2" socket, and it results in a little sway and/or bounce as a result. One of these anti-rattle clamps can reduce or virtually eliminate it: Anti-rattle clamp Tool-less anti rattle block -...

Are you using a bicycle registry?

Here is an interesting interview with a Vancouver Bike Detective (Yes, that's a real job! ;-) ) and it covers a wide range of challenges to combatting bike theft and tracking/reporting.

Are you using a bicycle registry?

So as the title asks, are you using a registry? if so, which one? What do you like about it? I have just signed up for 529 Garage, but there seem to be a few out there. Where should the new rider go in your region to record theirs? https://project529.com/garage (North American) - I like...

No Bafang used by mainstream bike manufactures.

I think the obvious answer to Torque vs Cadence is rather simple - BOTH! Why should I have to choose, when it's easy enough for a bike to use both. A simple setting or button press to toggle between them, and I can choose to have the bike in cadence mode for easy cruising, or torque mode for...

    Ultra Chainring Swap?

49T got me ~1.5 gears from 46T stock. Stands to reason 52 would be ~3 gears. Certainly a safe bet for at least 2... And the Bling ring was originally designed specifically for the BBSHD, and there were some posts a couple of years back on various forums by folks who have sourced adapters for...

    Chain wear gauge?

Just be aware that the interval is based on your specific drivetrain. 1% might be too much for multi-speed drivetrains. From the Park Tool Page: https://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/when-to-replace-a-chain-on-a-bicycle "Now let’s talk about what each reading on the CC-3.2 means...
