I am looking at Ergon grips for my Allant.
If you have them, which do you prefer??

Grips, like saddles and pedals are a subjective thing for each individual rider. What works for me may not work for you, etc. But having said that, my favorite grip is the Ergon GA2 Fat Grip. Long wearing Kraton rubber that feels good in my hand. I always use the Cane Creek Ergo Bar Ends on all my bikes as they afford me multiple hand positions on the grip/bar end which makes for a more pleasant ride. Both the Ergon and Cane Creek are made of the kraton rubber, which helps absorb vibrations and makes for a comfy feel.

I use the Ergon GP1 regular, cork, and Brooks leather grips. The cork version absorbs vibrations slightly more than the regular version, and the Brooks leather one simply feels and looks more luxurious. In both my ebikes (a Haibike full suspension mountain bike and a Yuba Spicy Curry all terrain cargo bike) I use them on Jones H-Bars with 2.5 inches rise. (The cork version is currently the "extra" set, not in use.) The Jones H-Bars have a 45-degree sweep, and they place the Ergon GP1 grips at a very comfortable angle to rest my palms and enable a secure grip, including an easy reach to brake levers, shift levers, bell, and Bosch or Yamaha controls.

Ergon GP's are very popular. I have a set of gp5's on one bike and like them a lot. Particularly on narrow bars where I like the additional wider grip option.

And alternative to consider if you like molded grips is the SQLabs, which can be used with or without matching inner bar ends. I have these on my other bike, and like them a little more. Mostly because I can still reach the brake levers and shifter with my hands on the bar ends. They make more of a budget 'aero' bar and work well with wide MTB style bars.

To me, the best grip is like the best saddle in that you should never notice it while you are riding. It should feel natural. I really liked the grips that came on my Yamaha Cross Core, but I gave them to my wife because she gave hers to one of our granddaughters, (long story). I put on a pair of Cork Ergons that we had laying around. I did not like them, (to be fair, they were size large, and with riding gloves, they felt too large and I noticed them a lot.

I decided to give the SQLabs 710 Grips a try. I found the shape of them very distracting at first, (they are not round). They felt fairly normal by the end of my first ride with them. The next ride was the same, (started out feeling strange, but ended the ride without noticing them). Now, after a couple hundred miles with them, I don’t notice them at all. They provide a good grip and stay comfortable. I always wear gloves, and the grip with gloves is very good, (although with the heat today, my bare fingers found them to be a little slick, but no more than many other grips). The inner bar ends shown are not SQLabs. They are an old set of Specialized Carbon bar ends.

I recommend the SQLabe if you ride with fingerless glove. You might find them a little slick if you ride barehanded. It wasn’t love at first ride, but I do like them now and I have no plan to replace them any time soon, (unless I can get a pair of the Yamaha grips again)
