    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

I copied retiredNH’s solution. The oversized washers are needed to compress the hanger strap around the pannier rack pipes.

    Wind?!

An ebiker’s credo: No wind is too strong, no hill is too high, and no road is too long.

Trek 8s with Smartphone Hub and Cobi app

Thank you for the idea! I pondered and researched other means of attachment but concluded yours was the best. Purchased the MIK System Deck from Giant.

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

So what is your rack? I just bought an 8s via Trek’s employee/family purchase program designed to reduce inventories. In addition to figuring out the COBI controller I am researching rear rack solutions that will accommodate my myriad MIK adapted carriers. I just ordered an MIK System Deck from...

    Good Stuff You Bought

At one time watching YouTube videos of people using power washers was highly popular.

    The new Forum app

Silly me, I just assumed the new forum was a progressive upgrade from the previous. Seems to work the same for me. Like it, but no appreciable difference.

    Cannabis, how is it legalized?

So funny! I used to do a routine with my brother when he called I would answer like I was the caller.

    Cannabis, how is it legalized?

Each to his own. Truth told: I have been a regular consumer of cannabis for 50+ years. Since becoming a customer in AZ, where legal, I use edibles only. Daily. Done with vaping and smoking. My Docs are all good with it. My Primary told me if my home state Wisconsin ever legalized medical...

The Strangest Noise You've Ever Heard From Your E-Bike?

Similar to your squeak only when pedaling, my squeak occurred during a torrential rainstorm. While pedaling through the torrent I could only imagine what damage was being done, but I had to keep moving. The “problem” turned out to be wet edge of the sole of my flip-flops was rubbing against the...

    Trek allant + 7

Have you called Trek Tech Support? (800) 585-8735 They can be quite helpful with suggestions.

    Trek allant + 7

Compare the 7 components to the 8 or 9. Trek was understandably keeping costs down on the 7.

Rant, Complain, Just Let It Out In Here. Others May Sympathize

In the movie I remember a hacker caused the victim to have a heart attack and die. It was a tough murder case for the detective to solve.

Allant+ 7S Recall: Headlight bracket, Headlight Cable, Brake Lines

Call Trek Tech Support @ (800) 585-8735 for details. I also have a 2021 7s and plan to call tomorrow. However, Trek installed a handlebar riser when I purchased the bike and also a new front fork ~1,000 miles ago so they have had ample opportunity to ensure proper cable routing. Thanks for the...

    Trek allant + 7

The Allant OEM drive train components are low-to-mid level quality. Be sure you are upgrading components when possible. I have a 7s, ride it exceptionally hard almost exclusively in Turbo. I replaced the stretched chain, worn cassette and bent derailleur at 1,200 miles. Since then a new...

    Best Shifting/Pedaling Technique?

Yes to all. Also remember to downshift before you stop and pedal a round to two to get the chain on the right sprocket. Up shifting while pedaling can be noisy, but shouldn’t hurt the components.

Rant, Complain, Just Let It Out In Here. Others May Sympathize

Think positively to use your motor’s highest assist. It doesn’t make your bike go faster, it just makes your bike easier to pedal. Enjoy the motor assist. That is what e-bikes are built for. Your knees will be grateful, and you will not hurt your bike.
