Vario vs Rohloff on Superdelite with GX option on steep fire roads/trails

Thanks @David! Looks like I am NOT a superman after all 😁 Now I have to somehow remember not to get my degrees and % mixed up going forward lol.

Vario vs Rohloff on Superdelite with GX option on steep fire roads/trails

I ride a 23deg road regularly before hitting the trails (80% trail riding/20% road riding). My steepest climb is an estimated 30 deg max, and I have to zig zag to get up with my 2020 Delite Vario, in turbo, and red faced from exertion. My eife has the 2020 Homage with Vario, and goes up that...

    2023 SuperLight R&M: Fantasy thread

I hope so Mike. Major players in this space would speed innovation up for sure, and increase adoption. I feel however that, except for ‘proper’ mountain bikes where weight makes a difference to the ride, innovation is going to focus on motor, gearing and battery efficiency, with reduction in...

    2023 SuperLight R&M: Fantasy thread

The Levo is a really nice bike - unfortunately it has no belt option so it is a pass from me. I will strip my carrier/mud guards/kickstand off In the meantime and I will ride a bit further, more often and loose 5kg and kill 2 birds with one stone 😎

Are you going to buy a Riese & Müller?

The combination of belt technology, Fox suspension and Bosch components make R&M the go to bikes for me. On top of that they feel supremely safe. I dont ride fast, but when I head downhill at speed I feel as secure as riding in a car. I get that they are very expensive - I couldn’t have...

Vario vs Rohloff on Superdelite with GX option on steep fire roads/trails

Here is one of my sign posted steep grades I ride reagulary before the road finishes and the trail begins. I have to zig-zag one other un-sign posted road which feels much steeper. One other un-sign posted gravel road (one way going downhill) was too tough for me going up and I stalled half way...

Superdelite pros and cons - Worth it the extra weight?

I am in my mid fifties, and my wife a few years older. We hadnt ridden bikes for 30 odd years and got single battery bikes (I got the 2020 Delite thinking exactly along your lines). I have run out of battery too many times now and am going to upgrade to a Superdelite. These bikes make you want...

Vario vs Rohloff on Superdelite with GX option on steep fire roads/trails

I have the 2020 Delite Vario GX with Fox. I agree with your comments. A 35% grade would be VERY challenging with the Vario. I think the steepest climb I have on one of my regular routes is 30% and the Vario is enough (with effort) for me to get to the top. I am less happy with the smartphone...

    Delite questions

Hi @hkat, I must admit that putting Moto-X tires on a Mountain seems a little unusual. What is it in the Mountain you like? Choosing Moto-X implies a lot more road riding than off-road? If you look at the specifications for both bikes they seem to be using the same rims, so my guess is you...

New Bosch Gen 4 motor soft wear update

Had my Delite 2020 updated and noticed the extra torque significantly. The shop also accidentally reverted my motor back to Sport from eMTB mode and so far hill climbing is much better, on me at least - much less effort needed. Will look to do some singletrack hopefully this weekend to see...

Vario vs Rohloff on Superdelite with GX option on steep fire roads/trails

I am looking at the Superdelight Mountain Rohloff and it has different gearing ranges again. Has anyone ridden the two versions of the Rohloff and can comment? It looks to have lower gearing accross the board compared to the ‘standard’ Rohloff? 1.5m - 8.4m @David great info as usual. Edit...

    Riese Muller metal water bottle?

@lloydt Now having two bottles of pinot noir strapped to the side of my Delite and a baguette hanging out of the carrier bag would be quite the sight!

Ergon GP1 compatible bar end mirrors-Are there any?

@Stefan Mikes , @TomD and @Thomas Jaszewski - tried my Mrrcycles underneath and I am a convert. Thanks for the (now obvious!) tip. 😊

How do Rock Razor tires work on paved road?

Its definitely the Tannus tyre armour that allows me to run at 20psi - without the inserts they would definitely drag. I had my shop put them in on a service visit - it was the first use of them the mechanic had experienced and apparently he cursed a lot getting the. fitted!

How do Rock Razor tires work on paved road?

I have the 2020 Delite GX with Fox and ride 80% offroad. The Rock Razors are a reasonable hybrid, but er more towards off road use. I use Tannus tyre armour and run my Rock Razors at 20 psi, and dont notice drag on sealed roads (beauty of a motor!) and they do great in dry dirt, not as good...

Why pay the extra for R&M?

Weight of the rider makes a big difference to climbing ability. It is not all about the hub/gearing. My wife and I both have the vario - she is 30kg lighter than me and goes up 27 deg slopes in sport smiling, Im in turbo full puffing and blowing - I have the gen 4 motor, she the gen 2. She...

Ergon GP1 compatible bar end mirrors-Are there any?

Yeah the Mirrycles are tough for sure - mine have had a beating too and still in good shape. Thanks for the tip on the position your ride with them - will give that a go.

Ergon GP1 compatible bar end mirrors-Are there any?

I use Mirrycles like Stephan above, only configured slightly differently facing downwards and outwards for an easier view. I agree they do not impact on the use of the handgrips.
