    Error 21

Possibly, but not necessarily. The motor does overrun by standard, typically for about 1 second or so. This can be changed using the "Stop Decay" setting in the Bafang Programming software. You can read more about this on this thread...

    Error 21

So you're hearing a grinding noise too... Its quite difficult to diagnose from this description. Are you able to get a video of it happening? If so post it here and I'm sure members will throw you some more ideas.

    Error 21

Ah right, sorry I misread your first post and didn't get the full gist of it. So it is causing an issue. Which Bafang motor do you have Coljas? I'm guessing its an G510/M620? Definitely check the position of the magnet. That error code is normally refers to magnet issues on bafang bikes...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Haha, yep the dusting must be a nightmare!! Those old country houses take a lot of work to keep right, and you need a small army of staff to do it.

    Error 21

Check the distance between the magnet and speed sensor isn't too big and that its aligned properly. It might want a small adjustment, but I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it causes an actual problem. Maybe worth resetting the error codes and see if it appears again later.

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

The rear of Mentmore Towers... a large country house built by the Rothchild Family in 1854. Down by the Grand Union Canal.... where life slows to a snails pace... My trusty Frey EX, she's picked up a few scratches along the way, but still going strong!

Anyone know where to find a screw on helmet mirror?

Maybe a Tiger Eye Mirror will work. https://dabrim.com/products/tiger-eye-bicycle-helmet-mirror

    Bafang BBS-02/HD vs M600 vs M620 (Ultra)

I've recently changed mine from Mobile SHC100 to Cornhead. The SCH100 grease has a greater viscosity to it. On checking my motor the SHC100 had held its consistency well. No signs of any getting to the controller. Everything looked pretty good to be honest. In comparison, the Cornhead grease is...

    Need help with Swagtron EB9

Bit strange to experience the same thing on 3 bikes! I own a different bike to you but I need to give my battery a fairly good tug to pull it off the bike. Even "unlocked" its unlikely to fall off the bike when I'm riding around. So be prepared, they don't all slide out easily! Batteries can...

Bafang M620 Ultra motor broken? Low torque problem. Best retailer for US?

GBK are normally pretty good, but i did just wait a week for them to dispatch my last order. Add another week or so for delivery from china and it adds up to quite a wait!

I Ditched The GX Stock Johnny Watts Tires...

I have 2.8" Schwalbe Super Moto-X on one of my bikes. Good tyres, fast rolling! I'm on my 2nd set now. I do recommend them. Saying that I am after tyres for my traditional bike (yep I still ride it now and then! :)) and think I'll give these Continental Contact Urbans a try as they come in...

    Bafang Motor replacement

Well I'm still waiting for my besst tool to be dispatched by greenbikekit! I thought I'd be updating you with info soon but it might take a while longer. Yeah I've downloaded it before to have a look, but to be honest I never needed it to use it - I had already programmed my settings with the...

    Bafang Motor replacement

Hi all, this thread is a few months old but I've just signed myself up and got a BESST account. For years I was under the same impression that you had to be a bafang dealer (or get an invite) to get access to this software. It even says as much on the website itself! But I downloaded the...

    Tuning chip doesnt fit.

Thanks @Davidguest ! It may work but I have some doubts about it... I'd have guessed the cable would be too short, and the clearance a bit too tight for the cable, but I could be wrong! If you drop the motor out, you might be able to stick it up the seat tube, or squeeze it around the motor...

    Tuning chip doesnt fit.

On the Volspeed website it says the chip is completely waterproof. (its potted). So you shouldn't have to worry about it getting wet. You could mount it outside the compartment but I'd be worry about something snagging on it and pulling the wires out. Personally I'd drop the motor down...

    Tuning chip doesnt fit.

Looks like you may have to drop the motor down and push the chip up inside a cavity inside the frame, leaving just the wires accessible to connect.

Chain degreasing and skipping on smallest cog

My first cassette lasted about 2 weeks before the skipping started! My second cassette has been running over 2 years now and still works and feels fine. I don't have my magic formula, but with the advice given already, I can't really stress enough how important it is to wear in your components...

    Bafang M620 Quiet Gears

Thanks for that! Sounds a lot better.... Definitely quieter. Just the change in tone would be welcome enough! It no longer sounds like a giant bumble bee is coming down the road. :) I have already ordered the parts and they should be here soon. Added with some new grease it should be a big...

    Bafang M620 Quiet Gears

Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody has upgraded their Bafang M620 motors with the new and quieter gear/rotor available on GreenBikeKit? The new design is meant to reduce noise. I hope so as you can hear my bike a mile away, it turns heads as I pass by.... Anything which can make it quieter...

I just noticed this is the weird and unusual things thread! So I better make up for it and post something unusual! :) I came across this tunnel boring machine this evening while out for a ride. You don't see those everyday! Its being used as a gate guardian by a large engineering company!
