Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I need a bit of assistance here I guess. I have paired a Garmin Edge Explore with the SL 5.0 and get speed, cadence, assist level (1/3/5), as well as battery level transmitted nicely. I am on the lookout for the power in watts that the rider and/or bike deliver. I think the bike transmits that...

It all depends on how much assistance you request. On my way to and from work (12-13 miles each way), I have 50% left when I arrive at home, but there are long unassisted stretches on the flat area, I only use the motor (turbo) for the hills (up to 10% inclination and every time I realize that...

Yup, if the hill becomes a HILL, there are three options: - be young and fit and push through - get off and use walk assist - smaller chainring

Well I'm 48 and used to be somewhat sporty. Nowadays - let's put it this way: I had to carefully pick the bike in regards to weight limits. Some days I feel it would have been wiser to not go with the SL for the area I live in, but then I'm over the hill and switch off assist and the bike feels...

I have rather large feet as well (EU 47), and went with the Specialized "Bennies" (posted a pic of them here https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/specialized-turbo-vado-sl-an-incredible-e-bike-user-club.43468/post-519677 ). Crank Brothers make some fine stuff too, I don't think you can...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Stefan, I'm just some old bloke doing recreational cycling on my Vado SL. The first ride was this tour with my best friend: https://www.komoot.de/tour/721512095?share_token=aIIrFUoVA1ll4Gka7AjdHfZMIvCHK7Tsux1O49VUU93T8xkZsW&ref=wtd (hope this works) We live in a pretty hilly area...

I only have 80km so far but I try to pedal „slower“ when shifting, seems to work so far. (we used to stuff our shoelaces into the shoes back in the day to avoid them getting caught in the chain/ring)

Well in that case, 25€ saved. I cleaned the bike today because there was a lot of dust from my first rides on it (plus the wife broomed the garage so all the dust was brought up and settled on my bike). Here she is, in all her glory, and with the new pedals & 40T chainring.

Nah, it protects the chain and ring though (I hope). I got your suggestion about garbaruk a few pages earlier but can‘t remember why I didn‘t order from there in the end. Instead I tried a chainring off amazon which then required new screws and then there were no spacers and the protector...

I‘m such a noob. The „fat“ (full power) Vado has a 40T chainring that fits like a charm. Needs a new protective ring as well though. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thanks everyone for the suggestions but I went with that now. Test ride to follow, down with Cov19 at the moment. 😐

The top tube display on my 2021 does exactly that, did that change with the 2022 model?

    Turbo SL Rack

I got the bike last week and am using a Racktime Odin. Small enough, and has the foldable outer bags.

I don't think I've seen a 40t chainring around, I'd like to not buy some noname stuff and ruin the chain or something, and the often referenced RaceFace chainrings only go up to 38 it seems so I picked that.

The saddle is better than I anticipated, didn't even wear padded pants. 38T chainring seems to be the way to go if I switch it out, right? I'd lose some theoretical top speed but at 40km/h I'm not actively trying to accelerate anyway. Doesn't hurt to try. Well it hurts the bank account but meh.

So I did my first ride on Sunday and had a nice 40 km tour with my best friend. He has a full power bike, Kalkhoff Entice 5B+ I think. We're both heavy boys, and I haven't been on a bike for serious riding in something like seven years. In the end I had to get off and push the bike for two...

Called the shop and the guy said it was intentional because the longer cable bends funny so they usually give out the 160mm and rotate the range extender. Bruh that's not how it's supposed to work. Getting it exchanged for the 220mm next time I'm in town. Now I'm done with work and...

Snagged a quick pic in a short home-office break; it's pretty much stock so far with the range extender cage and a lock installed. I do have a racktime Odin to snap on, bought a Garmin Edge Explore from a friend, and from there we will see. Thinking about nicer pedals, the stock ones are pretty...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Got my bike yesterday (photos to follow), they gave me the wrong cable for the range extender it seems. Before I run there to complain: the cable length is measured between the plugs, not the overall length including plugs, right? I have 160mm of "pure cable" between the plugs and the bike wants...

Congratulations AdmChr :-) I dig the colour. Finally ordered my 2021 5.0 EQ after waiting for what seemed like forever to get the leasing through employer going. (we're just only starting and it's a very german thing I guess, so everything takes time). Can't wait. My best friend has a Garmin...
