How Important are Disc Brakes for a Heavy Rider?

Now that I got my RAD mini I can report that the mechanical disk brakes work just fine and maybe too good if you aren't careful. I'm no lightweight either, so you should be good with whatever you get.

Hello from Chantilly, VA (but not for long)

Well that didn't take long... Due to work and weather didn't have a chance to take the bike out again until yesterday. Got 6 miles in riding around the neighborhood even met another ebike owner and a local high school student who works at a LBS. And then just for fun thought I try a path that...

Hello from Chantilly, VA (but not for long)

The Mini arrived as scheduled on the 24th. Decided to have Velofix handle the assembly as it has been quite sometime since I've been around a bike. If you want to do it yourself I don't think there would be any major issues as the bike is almost fully assembled when it arrived. No damage to...

    RadMini accessory ?’s

Does anyone know the size of the screws used to attach anything to the rear rack of the 2018 mini? I tried the screws from the front post and they are too large.

Just received notice the mini has shipped and is on its way. Delivery scheduled to next Monday the 24th. Any opinions on using velofix to assemble the bike? Gary007 thanks for your comments and suggestions, I worked for and with Nortel for many years and always enjoyed my visits to Canada, and...

    Age demography for members.

Ordered a RAD Mini last night. So I'll be back on a bike after 40+ years. Already have the big grin just from placing the orders for the bike and the RV don't know how much bigger they can get after I actually get to use them.

Hello from Chantilly, VA (but not for long)

Glad to hear that Opimax, I noticed a few other people saying they also ride the C&O so I guess I'll give it a try after the new bike is delivered. On that note, since I haven't ridden a bike since college I'm looking for a good time and place to ride when I'm likely to run into other ebike...

Not quite 67, looking to get my first ebike. Both for exercise and as supplemental transportation for the new RV I just ordered.

Hello from Chantilly, VA (but not for long)

Put the Deposit down on the new RV last week at the Hershey RV show, so part of my retirement plan is now in progress. RAD power bikes was also exhibiting there so was able to get an hands on look at the mini and the rover and was impressed with both, but being only 5'6" I think the mini is a...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

I love this thread! I was asked by some friends why I want an ebike, now I can just send them the URL for this and it says it all.

    Choices for a Heavier Person?

Hey Scarecrow good to see you over here. I'm 2yrs to go on the Unity forum. Saw you were back east for awhile, so you may want to run up to Hershey for the RV show starting on the 12th. RAD will have a booth there so you can see the bikes in the flesh. That's part of my plan, and maybe...

    Soldering advice

Depending on the size of the wire Scotchlocks might work. Anyone who worked in telcom can tell you they make a very reliable connection and you don't have to strip the wire first. Ideal also make a similar product for larger gauges...

Hello from Chantilly, VA (but not for long)

Thanks for the info, sorry to hear that about the C&O, I have to drive over that one too a couple times a week and always thought it would be fun to ride on. Guess for now that won't happen, but have hope for the future, with the growth of ebikes on the market maybe the NPS will come to some...

Hello from Chantilly, VA (but not for long)

Thanks for the reply and the info. I'm about 5 miles south of the W&OD off the Fairfax County Parkway, looking forward to being able to ride on it instead of driving under it. Hope to beat you to the RV by about 6 months but I'm looking at a class C.

Hello from Chantilly, VA (but not for long)

I've been planning for my retirement for a few years and have decided to sell my townhouse in northern Virginia, buy an RV and get out of town. Right now it looks like this will happen sometime next spring. While investigating alternate auxiliary forms of transport once I get the RV I started...
