A slow relaxing cruise along the Murray River track (Victoria side), Aus. One thing I love about the bike is it's ability to sneak up on unsuspecting critters - in this case I startled a Goanna which went up the closest tree and I was able to grab the camera and get some pics/video. I think...

Charging ebike on the go with a portable power bank?

I wanted a portable way to recharge my ebike's battery when I'm camping - I have a single cab ute with a large enclosed back and flat roof and also had 6 spare 25yo 75watt solar panels that were recently replaced by 250w 24v panels for the house. So I rigged 3 panels in parallel on the roof of...

    E-bike riding instruction and tips

The two biggest tips I can think of are - with a hub motor, keep some light pressure on the brake lever when maneuvering at low speed to prevent the motor from suddenly kicking in (that's assuming you've got sensors in the brake lever that cut the motor). And with the mid drive, lighten your...

Spring is just starting to warm things up and the big golden ball thing is appearing more regularly. Here's a sunny morning's ride from home.

My favorite place is Halls Gap situated in the Grampians, Victoria. It has a stunning little cycle path running through it or you can jump onto the Mt Victory Rd and ride up to Reid's or Boroka Lookout. The photo is from Reids lookout which is around a 12.5km ride with 500m elevation gain. A...

Fabulously sunny winter's day on the Skipton Rail Trail. This ride goes from Smythesdale to Pittong (not Piggoreet as labeled in the video....oops, gonna have to get a new editor!)

Had a really nice ride along the Yarrowee River Trail today. Funny thing is, it's been there for years and I never knew what a little gem it is.

Steve, it was 9 degrees C. It was just so nice to get a break from the incessant winds we've had here over winter.

My 'local' ride from home. Weather has been absolutely miserable of late so it was nice to get a reasonable winter's day with some spare time on my hands to go for a ride. It's just over a 30km ride.

    Avanti Montari E Sport review

Here's my review and impressions of the Avanti Montari E Sport. I was actually on my way to buy a completely different bike from another dealer when I thought, 'I'll pop into the Avanti dealer and see what they have'. Saw this and took it for a test ride - I thought hmmm....better grips, lift...

    Music on my bike

I recently got a Ultimate Ears Boom 3 for hanging on the fruit trees while I'm pruning in the orchard and it works really well. It's also completely waterproof and it happens to fit perfectly in my bike's bidon cage - I haven't tried it on the bike yet but after reading this thread, I'll give...

    Bafang mid drive range

Just had another thought - can both the bafang's be programmed/set for ie: 100W on level 1? In which case the 52V x 14AH would give me the best range.

    Bafang mid drive range

Hi guys, I currently have a 250w rear hub drive Shogun with a 36V 10.4AH battery. On PAS 1 on average rail trail rides, I'm getting around 40km out of the battery. (55yo / 76kg) For my next bike I was thinking either a Bafang mid 500w 36v with a 16 AH battery.....or the 750w version (48v)...

Skipton Rail Trail, Central Vic, Aus. The trail starts at Ballarat and ends at Skipton - about 57km. Some very scenic spots and varied countryside. I usually park the car somewhere part way along the trail and head off from there. Shogun SB200.

Electric Bike Flat Tire Fix and Tips

I didn't see any mention of leaving the tyre on the bike while patching the tube - obviously, you can't put a new tube on, but what are your thoughts of the pros and cons of this? Would certainly save disconnecting the rear motor and snipping the cable ties....
