Switching from a 20 inch rear tire to a 24 on a trike

I changed the rear tire on a TerraTrike, non electric, from 20 to 24 inch, and it made negligible difference on speed. The downside is that it lowered the nose enough that pedal strike on the pavement became a problem.

Opinions on rad city vs pace 500

Personally, I would go with the 500 for myself as I weigh 195 lbs. It also has a bigger battery, an adjustable stem and hydraulic brakes, which are easier to maintain in my opinion. As I said, the main caveat with the 500 is the somewhat abrupt acceleration to 12 mph in PAS level 1. As a...

Opinions on rad city vs pace 500

Hello Jtac. I've ridden both and they are both great budget bikes. Personally I prefer the Pace 500. It's lighter, nimbler, better handling and much quicker than the RadCity. I think Aventon has a much better dealer network with their approach than RadPower does, although Rad gets many kudos for...

Known Issues & Problems with Lectric eBikes Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I use my old trailer hitch bike mount for e-bike maintenance. Not as convenient as a dedicated stand, but this one folds and doesn't take up much space when folded. Of course, I have to attach it to a 4000 pound truck, lol

    Ride1Up 500 Series e-bike review

Sleek looking, great handling, 55 miles on my first charge. I love the way this bike looks with the semi integrated battery, nice sleek lines and angular frame. Makes me think of some kind of futuristic military vehicle. On my first charge, I wanted to see what kind of range I could get, so I...

    Handlebar Style

Thanks Asher. I put a mustache on my 500 yesterday, pretty much like the picture above. I also put a 90 mm adjustable stem on, and set it at 60 degrees up. Perfect setup for me, and it works okay with the existing cables. It was a bear to get the handlebar grips off of the old bar.

New models for 2020 Aventon Level & Sinch

Mike, this is the response from Aventon 4 days ago. Hello Larry, Aventon has not changed the acceleration to 12 mph on the Level 1. This is the response I got from Aventon when I asked that question 4 days ago. Thank you for reaching out, we appreciate your kind words. Both our bikes still...

    Handlebar Style

I just purchased a 500 with the riser handlebars and I'm leaned too forward and down ... putting too much stress on my wrists and palms for leisurely or distance rides. I'm 6'1",195 pounds and 75 years young. :) Comments on the Cafe/Euro style appreciated, or other alternatives. A) Cafe/Euro...

New models for 2020 Aventon Level & Sinch

Nice update Mike. Bike looks great. I was disappointed that they stuck with the 500's no throttle from standstill and PAS lvl 1 speed profile.

    Aventon Level vs. Ride1Up 700

Mike, I think RadPower continues to do this, claiming 750 watts. It's my understanding that that's the peak and the nominal, or continuous is 500 watts on all Rad bikes.

    Aventon Level vs. Ride1Up 700

I don't think the new Aventon Level has changed their "non-zero speed" throttle. Manual says the rear wheels have to be turning for throttle to operate. Also, I wonder if they reduced the abrupt accel to 12 mph on PAS level 1. Ride1up has throttle from a standstill and many settings for number...

New models for 2020 Aventon Level & Sinch

Looks like great additions to the Aventon product line ... the Level and the Sinch. It looks like both have integrated batteries, which I think looks good and has the benefit of "stealth". I'm not a fan of the fat folders, but that Sinch looks awesome, one of the sleekest 20 inch bikes I've...

Rad city or Ride 1up 700?

FWIW, my wife and I had Electra Townies (not electric), and they had a literal pedal forward design where the center of the crank is about 100 mm forward of the bottom of the seat tube. In addition, the seat tube is raked way back. So the combination was advertised to allow riders to flat foot...

Rad city or Ride 1up 700?

Good choice ! While Rad has been very successful, I think their product line is becoming dated and being surpassed by other entrants now. The Ride1up 700 is slightly lighter, sleaker (integrated battery), stronger motor (1000 watt peak vs 750 peak for Rad, and geared with 52 nm torque vs 40 for...
