    Origin8 Supercells Fat Tire Update

I’m trying out the Origin8 Supercell on the rear of my Juiced Bike HF1000. I ran the Captiv8er on the bike since I got it. That tire had 1800 miles on it, and I averaged a flat tire every 175 miles. The frequency of flats really seemed to increase as the tire aged. I ride the same route...

Three months with CCS: Good and Bad

It’s not super convenient but you could use 1” Velcro, the kind used for cable management and wrap it around the battery and frame.

Bosch Speed Performance system shuts down mid ride.

Fingers crossed, I'm hoping that it'll be a warranty replacement on the battery. In my opinion it's not safe to charge or use on the bike.

Bosch Speed Performance system shuts down mid ride.

I had a mid-ride random shutdown of my own last week. It was about 90 degrees out and around mile 15 of my 17 mile commute the system turned off. I got it to power back on a short while later, but when I got home the receptacle in the battery that houses the connectors to the battery mount were...

"No fair." In so many ways!

I love the fact that when a non assisted bike rider calls a person out for riding an ebike, they fail to realize that riding any type of bike isn’t always about competition, training, etc. They often fail to realize that a lot of ebiking is about utility and practicality. On my commute route I...

    Tariffs and eBike Prices

Where will all these theoretical new American made ebikes be built? Unless there are idle bike factories that exist, it would be years before anyone could expect a domestically manufactured bike.

Performance Line Speed vs CX with dongle

I’ve helped out two other ebike friends with the BikespeedRS dongle. One of them has a performance line cx motor and has about 4000 miles on the motor with the dongle. He hasn’t reported any anomalies and the bike is working great. After speaking to the guy that makes BikespeedRS, he’s...

Bosch Speed Performance system shuts down mid ride.

Usually the Bosch diagnostic tool pulls up any issues with the motor. Start a log of all your issues and keep working with your dealer to try and resolve it.

Bosch Speed Performance system shuts down mid ride.

Check to see if your battery has the proper tension as there is an adjustment screw that’s under a plastic cover near the lock cylinder. Also, you might want to take a look at power receptacle at the battery and the contact pins on the battery cradle. In some cases, it the plastic heats up and...

Went with some Vee's Speedster street friendly tires and it's been flat city ever since!

I run the Origin8 version which is essentially the same tire. I think it’s called Captiv8er. After about 1000 miles, I think I’ve had more flats on them than the Schwalbe tires on my other bike. Im running tire liners and sealant in the inner tubes and still get flats on average every 200...

frustrated rant: the more i learn the more i cant find an ebike

That’s where the big brands will be able to give you a piece of mind on wet weather conditions. I’d ride my Bosch powered bike through mostly anything. The display and buttons have an IP rating. If you’ve looked at any of the motor connectors, they’ve transferred over their automotive component...

frustrated rant: the more i learn the more i cant find an ebike

Unfortunately, some manufacturers including the big ones are going to cut corners on components. If you want very specific components, I'd recommend narrowing down your search to to the right frame size/style, battery capacity, and drive platform. From there you can figure out what you'll...

Fat tire frame pump (HV + CO2) -- Does CO2 even work in 4" high volume tires?

Also, I just remembered that I took the stock Kenda tires off my bike and replaced them with 26"x3.5" Origin8 Captiv8ers. You might even need more C02 or larger pump to fill the wider tires.

Fat tire frame pump (HV + CO2) -- Does CO2 even work in 4" high volume tires?

I carry C02 with my HF1000. It takes three C02 cartridges, 16g to fill it up to about 15PSI. There's almost no way I'd try to fill those tires without a full size floor pump or compressor.

I have one for sale, still sealed in the factory box.

    Commute Speed

You’ll probably gain a few minutes in the morning, but the main factor is flattening those hills and not getting to work too tired or sweaty.

    Commute Speed

I feel like if you can already average 18-19 mph over 10 miles a Class 3 ebike might only get you an additional 2 mph average speed. Another variable to take into account is the number of traffic lights and stop signs. I followed a fast road biker on the first 5 miles of my commute route...

    Well this ain't good...

I'm guessing that Bosch will leave it up to the dealer and regional service provider to sort out any issues that they believe were caused by tuning.

RedShift ShockStop Stem on Super Commuter +8S w/Supernova M99 Issue

It's probably something that your dealer has to do, but since I've seen how the Bosch display system plugs into the motor, I can tell that it's a four pin connector that could be swapped out for an Intuvia system. The mount that I linked replaces the lower half of the Bosch Intuvia display...
