How to Make "off-road only" Electric Bike Legal in California

Shouldnt there be less chain wear with a rear hub motor, because you need to put less newtons on the pedals. Anyways, I have never heard of chain breaks, stretching yes. Maybe chain wear is more an issue with mid drive motors, which have an additional cog connected to the motor. But even in the...

Friends Don't Let Friends Ride E-Bikes

I've been riding a bike since I was 4 or 5 and I always rode to school and have done my commutes with a bicycle. The motivation to by an ebike came from wanting assistance in fighting headwinds and snow. Other bikes I own are 7-speed city bike and a 21 speed tourer.

Maybe you could use the throttle mode to help push it up. Set it to 1 km/h or something so it wont rocket off of your hands.

Awaiting the arrival of my 2015 Turbo X

I checked this with the diagnostic device and software and it was already at 600%. Maybe it is different in the X.

Awaiting the arrival of my 2015 Turbo X

I had 600% as default for acceleration and that is really good especially in the max power mode.

Awaiting the arrival of my 2015 Turbo X

I think the pedals that I have are excellent. They actually look somewhat similar to the SSaints. No slipping on these. But then again I am used to ten euro pedals. I never got a mirror on my bike, but it is there because of L1e vehicle requirement in EU. I read some Specialized documentation...

Absolutely. Especially during autumn and winter there is almost always hard wind and there are always long streches where it's headwind. Makes you kind of smile inside when overtaking people agonizing in the wind on their normal bikes.

My light does not stay on always, it can be turned off from the computer or the frontlight itself. I have the minimalistic Supernova 3-led backlight in my normal bicycle. That is powered by 3W/6V hub dynamo with 2.4W going to the front the rest to the back leds it is very bright even at low...

Awaiting the arrival of my 2015 Turbo X

With 1400 lumens you will blow away anything oncoming. Even with my Supernova which they quote about 200 lumens people are protesting (mostly by making overtheatrical gestures) that my light is blinding them. And the light is supposed to be "streetlegal" in Germany. I have directed it so that it...

Thanks for this, I'll have to check. Although the bike only has about 1500 miles on it so the chainring should not yet be in that bad shape. However, the chain could be already streched. On my normal 7-speed hub geared bike the chain needs to be tightened quite frequently when commuting regularly.

    BMW Cruise Electric Bike 2015?

    Google says 1 British pound = 1.4866 U.S. dollars so that would make $2750- 2970 + shipping.

On the way to work, chain dropped twice. I had traveled less than 4 miles. I really need to dig up my chain cutting tool and try to shorten it. On the bright side my technique putting back the chain is improving and getting faster.

USA is backwater. EBikes are leased in Germany!

I dont know but with the knowledge that we have on lion batteries a 10 y warranty on a battery doesnt sound like a good business plan or at least you would need several pages of disclaimers. I haven't seen Mercedes mentioned, but I read in somewhere that the M1-Sporttechnik did cooperate with...

USA is backwater. EBikes are leased in Germany!

I calculated that the Stromer St1 would be about 2800€ for 36 months and after that you get a new bike or you can purchase the bike for yourself. Buying it yourself would be about 4000€. If I understood correctly they also use tax benefit as a sales argument. You can apply what they call 1% rule...

Getting a degree is probably overdoing it, but perhaps a third option could be "Try fixing it by yourself".

    Flat tire

Pretty much the same strategy I have. At one point I was carrying a replacement tube but one option could be self-adhesive patches. The problem with patching one the road is finding the leak. For small leaks I usually use submerging in water which is of course not feasible on the road. The thru...

I haven't seen any screws. The hook will immediately fall off if wheel is placed on its left side. I have almost lost it a couple of times already. Maybe I have to take another look to see it there indeed is a screw there.

    Electrolyte Bikes from Munich

The motor is in the front and also the battery in the swing arm so I wonder how such a heavy front handles. It seems to come optional (195€) with Gates belt drive which should be worry free.

    Favorite Biking Songs Playlists?

I listen to music on Spotify during commutes, but the volume is not so high so I can hear the surroundings as well. Mostly listen to random songs by Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. However, if I go running I dont want to listen to any music as there I find distracting.
