Wahoo Kickr Core 2 with Zwift

I’m thinking about buying one to use with my Creo 1, with the bike powered off. Anyone have one? I spent most of the day yesterday on YouTube researching it.

For $399 I don’t see how it can be a bad thing for the crazy hot summers here in Southern California. I’m going to my LBS tomorrow to look at one they ordered for me.

Morning Stephan, how’s the snow in Poland? brrrrrr…

Apparently it does. There is a spacer kit so numerous bikes will fit. We’re taking my Creo 1 and my wife’s Creo 2 to the Specialized LBS tomorrow when the Kickr Core 2 arrives, to make sure both bikes will fit. I’ll keep you posted.

A short thaw now :)

I know Creo 2 with its 12x142 mm rear hub would work. Was worried about the Road Boost on Creo 1!

I have the first generation Kickr Core. I was lucky and have one that was not recalled. It works fine with a thru-axle.

UPDATE

I bought it and brought it home this afternoon. Spent about an hour setting it up and trying to figure out how to just ride it.

It’s very hard to pedal, I must have done something wrong during the setup. Too tired now, will try again tomorrow

It's probably the cassette locknut rubbing against the frame, which would mean that your spacer combination is wrong.

Thanks for your response.

It pedals very smoothly, without any noise, clicking or scraping. It’s just very hard to pedal, like it’s in a very tall gear, on a hill. I bought the one with the orange cog, so I don’t have a cassette on it.

Any other thoughts? The Customer Service line doesn't open until Monday.

There's reduction gearing that spins the drum. Are you saying that in your easiest gear, that it's too hard to get started riding? Is the drum touching anything? Can you spin the weighted wheel by hand? Did you set up the app? If so, is it in ERG mode? You don't shift the trainer gears, it's the gears from your bike and the cassette that you installed on the trainer. The load on the trainer is also controlled by either the app or a riding program, like Zwift or Rouvy.

I’m using my Creo 1 on it, so I’ve only got one chairing. There is no cassette, so no way to change the gears with the shifters on the bike.

Yes it’s too hard to get started riding and keep pedaling. No the drum is not touching anything. Yes the weighted drum spins by hand, with no scraping or grinding noises.

Ive downloaded the app, but I’m a computer retard so I’m thinking thats the problem. I’ll open the app now and see about the ERG mode. Which app would that be in? Wahoo or Zwift?

It's been a while, but the Wahoo Kickr app should have an ERG mode. If I remember right, the default setting is 200w. Make sure that this is off. It's there in case you don't have a smart bike riding app like Zwift, but want to ride the bike under a fixed load.

There should be a cassette that is mounted onto the freehub which is connected to the weighted wheel.

Checking…

I got the newest version #2 and instead of a cassette it uses an orange hub with one sprocket on it.

Does it look like this?
