The world was (seemed to be) a much better place back before the internet made everyone an influencer, you could believe most of what was in the news, and people didn't have instant access to data.I'm sick of the disinformation and I tell you if I stumble across a magic vase in a dark cave and the genie gives me three wishes the first will be to ban all social media until they are legally classed as publishers and are forced to remove every bot, every troll and every single lie. And the owners thrown into prison for destroying democracy in the name of greed. .
Obviously the other two wishes would be bikes...
London a decade ago the fastest traffic was packs of commuter bikes that I would never ride with . Terrifying, really. The revolution happened in Paris during and on since covid. In the old days I pitied anyone brave enough to cycle in Paris as it was a death trap. Shows you cities can change and become bike friendly it just takes political will power and good will.
In UK most of the press is at worst deeply antagonistic to cycling, at best ignores it as a small odd quirk. Yet thankfully London has slowly improved under Sadiq Khan the popular Lord Mayor (Plus just released data shows London has the lowest deaths from violence of any major international city- despite Musk & Trump painting London as some sort of third world civil war murder capital, total unashamed bullshitting lies!). Stats show in terms of commuting numbers, for the first time over 50% is cyclists over cars. This gives them more incentive to open more safe bike routes.
Old tool guy respectfully... you need to distinguish anti Trump comments - valid as he is bent on destruction internationally - from comments that are anti America. Mine were not anti American at all, in fact I mentioned how much I liked Minnesota and Americans in that State in the comment you refer too. You have a criminal as President. Not my made up slander, but actual US courts stating this on multiple occasions. His daily behaviour is criminal. The world was (seemed to be) a much better place back before the internet made everyone an influencer, you could believe most of what was in the news, and people didn't have instant access to data.
With regard to your comments about our president, and from other posters here … people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. When you get a leader who is perfect, when all your societal issues are resolved, when your economy is running smoothly … then you can make insulting comments about America. Until then, stifle your nasty comments.
i mean … i personally do it every day and have designed a few million square feet of office space in a couple major cities around the world in which bicycle parking is required. Can you back that up with facts?
I can understand it in SF. I have been in the commercial real estate management world for 20+ yrs and have never run into that requirement. I have seen videos of bike parking in Japan and the netherlands (i think), but not in the us.i mean … i personally do it every day and have designed a few million square feet of office space in a couple major cities around the world in which bicycle parking is required.
some excerpts on the history of these requirements for new buildings in san francisco :
Do you have proof? He has been accused a couple of times, and there have been trials, but he was not convicted. And all of the accusations were purely politically driven. And as with anywhere in the free world, truth is the first casualty in politics.. You have a criminal as President. Not my made up slander, but actual US courts stating this on multiple occasions.
Nope. The guy is a child rapist and convicted felon. SCUM. I didn't bring this up. Facts matter. Notice how there are constant distractions from the Epstein files? It is indefeasible. There is a reason for that. Look over there, look over there, look over there. Another self-generated emergency crisis. One after another. It is safer to violently insurrect the Capitol than to shoot a mom three times in the head in a moving vehicle. Facts matter. He is going down in flames. Distance yourself.Just couldn’t let it go, could you?
agree with your conclusions - but let’s be clear about the facts. he was convicted. had he not been elected president he would have been sentenced.Do you have proof? He has been accused a couple of times, and there have been trials, but he was not convicted. And all of the accusations were purely politically driven. And as with anywhere in the free world, truth is the first casualty in politics.
Listen … let’s keep politics out of this forum. There’s no upside to discussing it, somebody is going to get upset no matter what you say. We have an international base, no one is going to understand, really understand, another's point of view unless they live in that country as a citizen. Let's not risk offending anyone.
And he won in 2020.Do you have proof? He has been accused a couple of times, and there have been trials, but he was not convicted. And all of the accusations were purely politically driven. And as with anywhere in the free world, truth is the first casualty in politics.
