I have an Ecell dual motor dual battery 2wd ebike. I need a front motor and Ecells has gone out of business, the front motor is difficult to locate so I am considering installing a 1000 watt motor at the rear and not having 2wd. The bike came with 48 volt 500 watt motors. I would like to keep my old controller if possible. If I make this change and I refrain from running wide open for more than a minute or two am I ok doing this and if I did it is the worst thing that could happen is I fry the controller?

I suppose the problem is finding a smaller 48V motor for the front that can support fat tires? Why give up on 2WD. You can find a smaller motor and lace it into the rim. Yeah, it's not easy, but high school kids can do it in bike shops,

98% of my riding is done on the boardwalk at the beach, never go on the sand so awd is not needed. 14,000 miles on the bike. Rear motors are easy to find but the fronts are slightly different and so far impossible to get. I'm also considering an upgrade on my batteries.

Current motor is a Bafang 500 watt, I think I would definitely have problems going to 1200 watts but if they have something that works I'd look into it , is eBikeling a good brand? The link you sent has only 1 review.
