Is AMFLOW The Thing Or Just A Hype?

Motor goes up to 11

I think the amazement for power in lower settings is a bit silly, any motor can be tuned to do that

Is the fact you can so easily derestrict the e-bike...
...the reason AMFLOW is unavailable in the European Union?

That DJI system is pretty impressive.

Nice review here:

I'm curious to see pricing and availability for the US market. Also wonder if other bike vendors will put this DJI system in theirs.

It will be interesting to see if bosch and shimano follow, could get a bit political.
Funnily enough it isnt the most powerful ever made, that was the 48v TQHPR fitted to the 2019 Haibike Flyon, but the dji beats it in boost mode

Did you notice the torque specified for Amflow was 105 Nm?

It's not just the powerful motor. It's the combination of high power, big battery AND low weight. That's the holy grail.

For 21.5kg you get an 800wh battery, 105nm power, plus full, very good suspension and decent tyres. With the version with a 600wh battery it's just 19.4kg - lighter than the new Vado SL 2!

It basically means the 600wh version is the same weight as an Orbea Rise with a 630wh battery - which has been classed as an SL with its RS restricted EP8 motor of 60nm. (To compete, the new Orbea Rise lets customers access the full native Shimano 85nm power, calling it RS+! but you still have a smaller battery- whole point of the Rise was restricting it at 60nm to make a smaller battery last longer and keep bike weight low, to compete with TQ Fazua and Spesh SL motors. Now there is no need with the Amflow ) That's a game changer.

The Amflow 800wh is much lower weight than the Levo at 23kg for example even though the Levo has a smaller 700wh battery.

Plus the cheap price - £5999 in UK with top notch components and geometry and all the modern tech stuff like anti theft and great built in touch screen. Of course if you go full boost with the motor you will drain that big battery very feckin' quickly!

That's what has made everyone sit up. And made it a best seller. They brought their drone battery engineering technology to make lighter e bike systems - with their first effort!

No it is not.
We have to learn of longevity of Amflow, potential glitches, and long term brand support yet.

Yes of course. Like any brand. So far what I read on EMTB forums is the warranty service seems good. Long term we'll have to see. I'm impressed they have asked for riders with complaints to contact them on the forums and have a designated thread for just that called:

Amflow Customer Support team is here!PLEASE feel free to leave your comment

So at least they are making an effort & keeping customers updated about firmware updates etc and where to take bikes that have problems. As you'll see on that thread. Wish more brands would be as communicative.

Also maybe ask or check with someone who has used DJI drones for a number of years if the warranty on those is ok? I know nothing about drones but they may be new in this ebike space but I do know they are not new in technology, being world leaders in drone tech which dwarfs e bikes.

My curiosity is not so much for the emtb they have made but as I say, whether they'll be making a smaller lower powered system?

Also they are selling the motor system to other manufacturers, 2 at least so far apparently.

There drone warranty and support does seem to be quite epic.
Thousands of people have lost or damaged drones, sent the logs in to prove the drone crashed itself and get free repair or replacement.
You rarely read complaints about lack of response.

It does seem to bode well. I wonder if the delay in launching in US is because they were aware of possible tariffs (Now landed of course) & because of the drone/spying issue over there? Heard the Ford CEO recently on a podcast talking about Chinese EVs and how fantastic they are! Said he'd driven his daughter around Europe in one to test it. Seems the Chinese are very far ahead with battery tech.

Quite a hot potato, Ford CEO praising Chinese EVs, we are probably looking at the Chinese taking over like the Japanese did, already European brands are looking to let them build their cars here in their own factories now spare space.
Gets around the tariffs 😉.
But we need cheap energy...cue the bears cheap gas.
Supercars that jump, SUVs that spin on the dot and float.
Chinese goods are just going strastospheric, but Im not downloading a chinese app so I can drive my ca....
Oh fduck it, I give up.

Chris just buy an Amflow and tell us after 3 years whether it was a right decision.
In case it was not, remember I had been advocating a Levo for years 🤣

I for one will be buying an Amflow when they arrive in the USA and selling my Levo and my Trek Fuel EXE as to the point made earlier, it is the best of both worlds (arguably far better as the torque is so much greater than the Levo with the weight of the Fuel)
