Congrats! The black liquid is scratch paint. I had the same question when I got my bike in the box like you did. I left the reflectors off and have installed an aftermarket light and one of those battery powered blinkers on the back instead.

Does setting the 1009 to '0' remove the 2 recup modes from the menu? If it does, perhaps this is all that the feature is designed to do (with braking still engaging the recup 2 mode)? Just speculating. But personally I don't know why one would want to disable the recup modes. If nothing else it...

I thought about it initially, but the battery is now at 84% and it still won't work. Also I don't recall ever noticing the regen/ recup mode not working before due to charge level.

It's been a while, but I finally got my bike fixed under warranty. Turns out that the freewheel was faulty and needed to be replaced, I finally got it done yesterday. Hopefully this issue is resolved for good now. If anyone has similar issues, here is the link to the video recording the noise...

I've listened to it again, not a clicking noise, more like a bit of a grinding noise. I want to believe that it is 'normal', some kind of break-in or maybe the noise is coming from the hub motor itself, but I emailed the dealer with the question, will see what they say. Maybe I am overthinking...
