    Thanks for the tip!

    U-lock or Folding Lock?

Yes, it's one of these types. Don't know which kind for purposes of the chain.

    U-lock or Folding Lock?

Hi, now that I have my first ebike (Electra Townie Go! 8i), I need some tips on which lock to buy. I know that you should use a more heavy-duty lock for a more expensive bike. I'm going to take advantage of REI's member sale and I am debating between these: ABUS U-Lock $150 USD...

Ebikes for apartment and condo dwellers

So I went to my local REI a few weeks ago to get my regular bike a tune up and I saw that they had in stock a few ebikes, and one of them was an Electra Townie Go! 8i that I had been eyeballing online. I was able to test ride it and take it up a flight of stairs at a nearby building with outside...

Hello - This is my first post!

I ended up getting an Electra Townie Go! 8i from my local REI. I love it so far! Not the best bike if I had more steep hills to ride, but for my purposes it works and it's very comfortable. It would be better if it had a throttle but otherwise it works for me!

How long can you expect an e-bike to last?

I'm hoping the e-bike will last me for at least 5 years without needing to repurchase a battery. Keeping indoors is probably good advice, especially in Austin, Texas.

I know, they are fun to ride! I hope you were able to utilize the warranty!

How long can you expect an e-bike to last?

Well that doesn't make me hopeful. What makes you keep buying, if you don't mind me asking?

How long can you expect an e-bike to last?

I know the answer may be variable depending on the bike and parts, but generally speaking, how long can you expect an e-bike to last? Assuming you get one with a Bosch, Brose or Yamaha motor (the kind available on Trek, Specialized, Electra and Giant bikes), how long can you reasonable expect to...

Buying from local store vs ordering online

Just a bit of a gripe here - even in bike-friendly Austin Texas (at least compared to other Texas cities), bike stores do not many e-bikes. Me being short is an especially limiting factor. Even small sized high step frames do not work for me, which is why I pretty much have to go low or midstep...

Hello - This is my first post!

Any update on what you ended up getting? I'm in a similar situation as you. Also 5'3, no problem with my knees, but I am overweight. I was/am considering both the Townie Go 8i to purchase from REI and a Specialty Como 3.0 (or maybe even 4.0 since it's only 400 more) from a local shop. Interested...

Buying from local store vs ordering online

That does help. So I am seriously considering purchasing from REI. I just realized that you are not living in the U.S But I mention REI because I do have a year to return an ebike for a full refund. So the risk is a bit lower if you end up not liking the bike. REI has the Electra Townie Go! 8i...

Buying from local store vs ordering online

Yes there is (a dizzying array to choose from). I would prefer to ride one before purchasing and that is also a big limiting factor. I believe REI has a fairly lenient return policy, even on ebikes. I will confirm with them before I purchase. Plus I have ridden a non-electric Townie. So even...

Buying from local store vs ordering online

I think the store service, more so than the name brand, is a big selling point for me. Granted, I've never had any issues with my non-electric bikes. But for an e-bike, I assume to service it while under warranty, you would just take it to a Specialized/Trek/Electra dealer. I don't know what...
