    Creo 2 Noisy/Juddering SRAM brakes

Hi all, just to circle back a bit, I’m not sure what Stefan meant when he remarked that I appeared to be ‘demonizing’ the brakes. Now, perhaps my brakes were possessed by demons, but I assure you that I did not consciously aid or abet any demonic possession! Two of my previous bikes also had...

    Creo 2 Noisy/Juddering SRAM brakes

If any of you are having a brake issue with a Creo 2, this story might help. For the first four or five rides (approx 100 miles) on my Creo 2 Expert, the SRAM brakes worked just fine. But all of a sudden, on maybe my fifth ride, the front brake started to judder and squeal, hellaciously...

When it rains, it pours! I also joined the Creo 2 New Owners Club today with the arrival of a new Expert with the white-flecked finish. I live just north of Portland, Maine, and--wouldn't you know it-- the one LBS in town that handled Specialized dropped the line last year and now is a Trek...

Those are all good points that you mentioned, which I hadn't given any thought to. I’m not too worried about the 58 being too big for me, as the Bike Shop said they would order in a 56 if I felt the 58 was oversized. I’ll probably just have to swap the stem to something like a 90 mm, perhaps...

Yeah, initially I was a bit taken aback by the suggestion to move to a 58. But the devil is in the details, and the geometry chart showed that it might be a good idea. I’ll let you know how it worked out after I take delivery of my bike in about a month.

I’m in the same situation as you. I normally ride a size 56. My Bike Shop suggested that I go with a size 58 Creo 2 because the reach is only about 9 mm more than the 56, but the stack height is 31 mm taller. If needed, I can install a shorter stem to make up for the extra reach, but the added...

Thanks, Stefan. I’ll check that model out and add it to my short list of candidates. My bike is not due to be delivered until the end of February or perhaps March, so I’ll wait until that arrives and then make a decision for the spring riding season. Really appreciate your help with this!

That’s definitely a key benefit, so I’m tending towards that model!

Thanks for your research, Stefan! I actually haven’t taken delivery of the Creo 2 yet (scheduled for late Feb), but wanted to have a mudguard plan beforehand. I’ll assume the negative reviews were based on poor installations and also check out the Bluemels you mentioned.

I agree it’s strange— there were a couple of negative reviews on the REI site. One went as follows: “Snapped on first ride & Nearly killed me Flow chart of how this happend: 1. Rains; Velcro gets wet and weakens; 2. Velcro loosens, fender drop onto wheels at 40mph; 3. Fenders snaps into pieces...

I read some reviews that complained that the Velcro straps on the Speedrockers didn’t hold the fenders reliably. One guy said he almost crashed as the fender dislodged into his wheel… that would make me nervous 😳! An easily removable mudguard that provides decent coverage would be ideal, but...

The best fenders I’ve identified so far are 1) Portland Design Works and 2) Rene Herse. Both are metal and seem well designed and constructed.

I have a couple of questions for you Creo riders who tend toward tarmac but also ride non-technical dirt and gravel: 1. Do you use Ride Wrap to protect your frame? 2. Do you install fenders/ mudguards and, if so, did you permanently install them or do you use clip-on fenders so you can easily...

That is amazing that the battery needed a firmware to work with the Creo 2! Did you have to bring it to a Spesh dealer to update it? An online store is selling ‘new’ extender batteries on eBay for $349, but I’m a little wary.
