Wired E-bikes

I had the worst customer service experience I have ever experienced with Wired E-bikes. My E-bike arrived from FedEx looking like someone threw it off the back of the truck. When I communicated with Wired and told them about the delivery they said it should be fine, as they package them very well and it should be fine. They do package them well. However, the batteries had gashes in them, the battery cover for the front battery was not staying on, and was not locking properly when in the port. I was told by Andrid and Heather that I cannot slam the battery into the port, and the gashes were cosmetic. They made me feel like I did something wrong, despite having information to the contrary. All I wanted was a new front battery. I contacted the Illionis BBB, the Ohio Attorney General, and the Illinois Attorney General. Finally, after 40 emails back and forth, a third customer service representative Michael emailed me back, after I asked for someone above Heather and Andrid. He apologized for the delivery condition (which to be fair was not their fault, it was FedEx) and offered to give me my money back after I package and return the bike (they are paying for the return shipping). Today, the bike goes back, so we shall see what happens from here. The amount of emails, and stress to get to this point was absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention the amount of effort to re-package the bike and fit it back into the original damaged box! All because I wanted a brand new bike to look and feel brand new! The sad part is, the bike itself was beautiful and was exactly what I wanted. However, let me tell you, it is not worth it! There are other brands, with superior customer service to Wired. I ordered a new Tesway X5 AWD, and I am already experiencing better customer service. The price is less expensive, they give you free gifts, offer you shipping protection for a very reasonable cost, and the bike is exactly what I want , maybe even better than I wanted. It should arrive in less than a week, I will write a review when it arrives and I have a chance to ride it. Again, if I can save one person from going through the pain and suffering I did, I will feel better about this experience.

The consensus here on EBR is to test ride a bike at a local dealer before purchase, and at a dealer who will support it locally. You will get a better bike than online only and will have free local pro assembly and local service. Online only companies do not have an address in Google Maps. And the fold the second there are inevitable problems and open shop under a new name. They might have 500 favorable reviews, all written by their mom or a call center scam in Indonesia, but the reviews are not from ant verifiable real people by a third party. They control and can edit and create reviews on their own website. Do they even have a domestic wheelhouse? Do they even have a domestic service center? If not you are ripped off. A too good deal is just that, a scam.

All you had to do was file a claim with your credit card for receiving damaged goods. I guarantee once the credit card bank took back payment, they would have been more accommodating and settled with you. I would never accept a battery with damage, cosmetic or not.
Don't let @PedalUma get you down. He's a used car salesman on a soapbox constantly grinding the same ax. Though nothing I would ever buy, Wired is not as he describes.
That's said buying direct to consumer you need to know what you're doing and how to make your own repairs. Personally I also add avoiding proprietary hardware.
