You Cannot Buy A Brooks Bicycle Seat

I'd like to say 'No Politics' but ....

The western WORLD has gone crazy for biking and the foremost maker of bike seats can't make bike seats. WT living F? Maybe I'm in the dark and there is some reasonable understandable process at work here I am not aware of but ... are there no shareholders for this company screaming WHY? Maybe it's privately held and they have so much money in the bank they just don't care? What happened to good ole fashioned profit and work ethic? What's next? Wheat farmers top planting wheat and then there is no bread or pasta? Rubber plantations shut down and then there are no tires? Maybe computer chip makers give up the ghost and then we all die.

Which Brooks do you want Reed? Be specific., model, color, any sub catagory etc.
Doesn't matter. Just go to any of the major online retailers and they are all sold out. I'm not complaining about not getting the seat I want. I'm freaking out over the fact western capitalist civilization is collapsing.

I've purchased Brooks saddles at Western Cycle Works. Good prices, free shipping and many in stock, like the B17.

Thank you. Still, most models on back order. Again, I'm not focusing on a particular commodity. I'm ticked off that so many things are presently obtainable. It's absurd.

Welcome to the new pandemic lifestyle. Totally agree. Searched high and low for a replacement 12 spd e-chain for my bike and finally found one online before they sold out. Same goes for pulleys, cassettes, brake pads, rotors, specific tools….Retailers are having trouble filling the shelves and there seems to be no end in sight to shortages with more people than ever riding.

Last year, I sourced/hoarded all the parts I wanted after the summer, and surprizingly got everything before the end of 2020.

Surely everyone else did this, because they knew the "pandemic lifestyle" wasn't a new thing for 2021?

No soybean I didn't (on most things) because then I would be a "hoarder" or a "prepper". :) (sarcasm)

Reed the shortages you refer to are so broad it does surprise me. Chainsaws and related supplies, 5K water tanks have a three month lead time here instead of go in and pick it up, houses and property out in the country have gone up in price and tightened up in the market, a chipper body that I should have ordered last year and been 2 to 3 months out is now 12 months out.

It goes on and on, it's bizarre.

I just sold my chainsaws.

I see Brooks saddles come and go at REI. I have not worked up the courage to try one out but they would be returnable to REI if not eventually comfy.

They have a few, but if I tried one, it would be the springy one. If you are an REI member, you get a bit of a kickback. (which reminds me that I need to use mine)

That was the point I was trying to make.

We got "teached" about all that in 2020.

So why are folks surprised now one year later, not having done anything the year before?

For the newbie that just got their first ebike (which may be first and only bike), discovering all the great accessories available to them, they are excused and will just pout and accept the "sorry please try again later", or suck it up and pay whatever it takes at all costs if they are lucky enough to find a source.

But for those in the industry, from the craigslist bike flipper to the LBS, they have no excuse. They knew, they didn't do anything about it fast enough, and now they are unable to complete repairs for their patrons.

Like Dad always said, the best time to buy a heater is in the summer, and the best time to buy an air conditioner is in the winter.
