Yamaha (Haibike) motor replacement

So I have googling all over the net to find a replacement for my 500W s-pedelec motor, but it proved fruitless. The label on the motor says "Model X87". It is the standard unit of the Haibike Trekking S 8.0. Can someone please help me to find my way?

I got a tip that the cranks might be overly tightened. I loosened them up a bit from the 40 something Nm that is stated in the service manual. ( I have no idea what the factory actually used of force to begin with). Things improved a bit. Normal ECO usage on flat roads is a bit more within reach. But I still get a slowdown when I start to pedal from exiting free rolling, regardless of gears, speed and cadence used. I guess the local bike mechanic will be contacted to open the engine and have a look.
- I do have a warranty, but since I imported the bike from another country I feel that spending 100-300 euros locally will save me quite some grievance from customs, waiting, arguing, slow email correspondence,red tape, bad luck etc.

Things tried thus far:
-1a Removing the chain (and battery). The pedals move relatively freely forward by hand when turning the crank.
-1b Putting the chain back on makes no dramatic difference in "hand-pedaling" resistance when lifted up on my bicycle repair stand. It is first when I apply some torque from actually cycling that the very heavy resistance is felt. As if "engine-braking"
-2 Loosening the cranks somewhat. A bit better. All assistance modes benefit and feel snappier.
-3 Bed-in attempt. Trying to thin out and distribute grease by force. Pedaling powered off like a tour de France madman. Ongoing.
-4 Tearing my hair out

Thoughts:
-Bearings are still stiff? Stiffness from lack of lubricants? Bearings about to seize? Clutch(es?) poorly lubricated?
 
I don't see how loosening the crank arms would solve anything; I would think it would only promote the eventual failure of the arms. It is not like the arms touch anything other than the crank spindle.
 
Are you sure this is not cadence related?

102% sure. I found out from hour1 how the engine thrives at a certain cadence/gear ratio. And I cannot stress this further: At any given cadence/gear I feel the engine fighting me at a 1:2 ratio when unpowered. The plum in the pudding is that I gain speed maintain speeds at the flats if I just roll.

Not certain myself. I guess easing up the pressure on the bearings?

Agree completely. You can't run with loose bolts. The idea that the crank is preloading the ball bearings is only possible if the motor is some how completely assembled incorrectly. Either the cranks or the motor spline is going to be damaged if the bolts aren't torqued correctly.
Did you check if you can ship only the motor back to the dealer?
 
I note you imported the bike, but have you contacted the dealer you bought it from re your issues?
If you start poking into it yourself you will void any warranty.

I know. See OP for thoughts about warranty vs time/worries. I did not contact the dealer because of this, even though EU buyer's legal rights are very strict. I went into this knowingly before I bought the bike. Warranty is not the issue, but supply/time. I am not a rich guy by any means, but I prioritize time.

They are now not loose by any means. I just tightened them down to factory specifics minus a few
Factory specs are there for a reason. If you have more experience than the engineers who designed the system, then feel free to adjust. I read a lot of people complaining of creaking from the bottom bracket area, and 90% of the time it's loose bolts.
