Xtra Specialized Battery

Hello, curious as to the process of installing the extra battery on either the Como or Vado cross tube. Can't find any info on Spesh website, the 604 Wh battery appears to be out of stock about everywhere fyi. Can't find the extra battery or info on their website.

Something a diy'er can do or the bike shop have to do the install and reprogram?

From what I've read on other threads the Specialized battery does not come with a plastic cover. This apparently needs to be ordered separately.

My wife's battery was replaced under warranty. The LBS moved the plastic cover to the new battery and updated the firmware. This surprised them as it had just been shipped from the warehouse. I'm guessing this would be true for a battery ordered from Specialized or any other online source.

I purchased a second battery (604wh) through my lbs for my Vado. No issues with swapping the batteries you would hope the battery would arrive with the latest software installed. The mission control app will tell you what version software you have. The plastic battery cover has to be ordered separately to colour match you bike.

Sounds like you’re asking about a dual battery setup? If so, it isn’t supported from Specialized. Equivalent Giant and Trek bikes, yes.
I second that.

An extra battery is to be ordered by Specialized LBS, and you have to be very clear Marcela you also need the battery cover (some $25 extra). Spesh do not even deliver the two M5x10 mm bolts (with an integrated washer) needed to blind the water-bottle cage mount...

Correct. Thought there was somewhere I saw a second battery could be installed on the bike, under the upper tube where the two bolt holes are located, maybe confusing with the Trek setup. Thanks.

I didn't pick up on that. Specilized does offer "range extender" batteries as addons for some models like the Creo, but not the Vado or Como. Spare batteries are carried in a pannier and swapped out for the depleted battery.
