wheel size help

My sister owns a 2015 women's Trek Verve 3 bike. We want to surprise her with a bafang emotor kit, but I'm unsure of her wheel size. I'm given the choice of 26, 27 or 29 inches. She might have a 700c... Which wheel size should we pick? I don't want to call and ask her obviously. I could call a bike store. Thought someone would know off hand on this.

yes... what does that mean in inches then? Sorry, I'm a bit lost here. Just want to take the right option. I did a conversion etc. Is that the 29 inch option?

Thanks JRA, think I tried to understand the long answer. I got 29 also and that seemed off, but I'll go with 29 and go for it.. Thanks a lot btw you guys..

Basically a "29" is just a 2" tire mounted on a 700c rim and refers to the overall diameter. The bike you have doesn't have that wide a tire on it more like a 1.5" and would be known globally as a 28" wheel and is also mounted on a 700c rim.
