Wheel Noise

the bike is a Taubik Blackburn TL 2025. I am hearing a noise from the rear wheel of my new (3 weeks) ebike which I cannot pinpoint. It only happens when I am riding it, not if spinning without me on it. Also occurs with assist on and off. I have since taken the reflector off as a possible cause, but the noise remains. Any ideas on how it can be fixed? Here is a video of it: https://photos.app.goo.gl/bgokwLNRMkfctBGx6 This demonstrates no noise if I am not sitting on it. https://photos.app.goo.gl/N643fVi52RHW6FDT9

When you're sitting on the bike, much of your weight is suspended on the spokes from the top of the rear rim down the the hub. If a spoke is loose or broken, things can move and make noise. If you feel every spoke, you may find a broken one. I like to turn the wheel one rotation, hitting each spoke on one side of the hub to hear if they all sound similarly tight. Then I go to the other side of the bike to sound the spokes on that side. My little spoke wrench makes a nice spoke gonger.

I can’t watch your vid, but if it’s a periodic ticking with the wheel while you’re on the bike, then it’s most likely loose/unbalanced spoke(s).

If you don’t know how to adjust spoke tension, watch a few videos on the process. It’s not intuitive at first, and it’s easy to screw it up. But, that’d be my bet. I use the plucking tone method for adjusting my spokes every few rides. If you strum around the whole rim, you will find some that don’t sing the same song.

My second guess if it’s a rhythmic noise is that your brake is rubbing.

Good luck.
