What Does BBSHD and BBS02 Stand For?

A glossary would be a challenging task but interesting :) @rimfirematt.

BBS02 is the 2nd version after BBS01 and is a 750 watt bottom bracket motor system manufactured by Bafang. The BBS01 is a 500 watt bottom bracket motor system. There are numerous other upgrades between each of the three models. BBSHD follows a slightly different naming protocol with the "H" being High Torque and the "D" coming directly from Bafang's production label that is on all of their motors.

Each of those labels on the housing has 4 parts, "A" is a group of letters & digits that represent the manufacturer's name for this product, "B" is the production date - example: 1501 (January 2015) followed by the unit serial number, a number from 0000 to 9999, "C" is the standard voltage for a unit, 24V, 36V or 48V and "D" is the watts that the manufacturer rates the motor at. In this case, the "D" is 1000 watts; the BBSHD motor.

@Thomas Jaszewski, you've been immersed in the mid drive motor biz for a while; anything else to add?

Page 7 of the Bafang BBSHD manual has the documentation.
