What did you buy for your new bike this weekend (Black Friday...)

That charger looks very similar to cheap_o YZ Power 2amp back up charger that I got. If the 4a has similar internals you may want to change your mounting by 180° as on mine the fan is on the output cord side. The fan will work much better if it's not fighting the natural heat convection.
Good catch, it is a YZpower...I would say they are cheap as in price, but very effective charger with a heatsink and fan. I did the homework and saw their reviews on Aliexpress. Anyways Im gonna go flip the charger :p

The only issue with this project is you need at least 6" of exposed seat tube on your bike for there to be any useful drop range.

This particular project is for bikes with a 27.2 or 28.6 mm (shim required) seat tubes. This idea may work for larger seat tubes but I have not researched it.
That wouldn’t work for me! Mines is right down on the frame. It’s a great idea though if it works for you. 👍

Perhaps the 4a is a little heftier but mine seems to be very cheap plastic and gets warmer than my other 2a charger which tells me the electronics inside leave a little to be desired. A quality power supply should have slightly over_spec'd components so that it runs cool.
That said it is a nice price and does have good reviews so that's why I purchased it as well. Mine has been working well for 3 months and I consider it a backup.
Keep in mind that Aliexpress does not allow long term use reviews...so most reviews are for the product when recieved. I always click the additional feedback box when checking reviews which I believe can be up to 5 months later but most people don't use it properly.

Hmmm, you just might be able to sell that product/service!
An interesting idea but I wouldn't want to assume the liability. It's one thing to make a "how to" post but I don't want to encourage others to try this until I've had a chance to thoroughly test the "Frankenpost". As I do, I'll be carrying a spare seat post just in case.

I think if it fails the last thing you be looking for is another one! Lol 😁

Interesting, my new quick charger stays cooler than my stock charger which was surprising in a way (its cool to the touch while my stock stays pretty warm), but I think because of the heat sink and fan; which I think it means its built better. As far as I know if the cooler the charger stays while charging the better it is.

It is an acceptable charger for the price paid... but quality wise it is what we paid for them and nothing more. My stock charger has a fan as well which is quieter and keeps the charger probably 10°+ cooler. Cooler is a pro but I'd be pressed to use it as a blanket statement as always better.
That said it does work and during charges I have a meter connected in series and it is stable with no bounces in voltage or current ;)
