Hi all,
As a family of 4 ebikers, we have been wanting to be more mobile with our bikes. For this purpose, we've gotten two racks.
1) Upright Designs' "Totem Pole" rack
We got this rack to hold all 4 of our ebikes (batteries and accessories removed). 200 lb weight limit which we slightly exceed. Requires a Class 3 (350 pound tongue weight) hitch. Our hitch has a tongue weight rating of 500 pounds. This rack works really well, but requires lifting the bikes to load. I can't do it. My husband can, but needs a second person to help. Here's Court's review of this rack:
2) Thule Easyfold XT
This rack holds just two bikes and has a ramp so lifting isn't required. One person can load the bikes, though it's nice to have a little help for straps and things. We got this rack so that I can take my bike and one of my teenagers and his/her bikes somewhere, and handle the loading and unloading myself with the teen's help. I never bike anywhere with both teenagers, so a two bike rack works fine. I'll also use this rack for outings with my husband and for him to have outings with one kid at a time. Court hasn't reviewed this rack, but there are lots of reviews on Youtube.
Now, to sell the Hollywood rack. It's a good rack with a 50 pound per bike maximum, so can hold two ebikes (by slightly exceeding the posted maximum for the rack), but requires lifting the bikes, so I couldn't load it myself.
BTW, I know here I have mentioned we are exceeding the max load on the Upright Designs rack when we carry our 4 ebikes without accessories. Please note that I'm not recommending this for other people. It is what we decided to do. Please don't scold me!!!![Oops! ](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
