I’ve had two very scary incidents where a driver crossed the centerline and was heading right for me. Both times the driver seemed to look up at the last moment. Being hit from the front is really a sign of distracted driving. I assume people are looking at a phone, sending a text, something like that. They scan the road and don’t see anything, so they look down at the phone.

Obviously, a cyclist needs a high level of visibility. I experimented with some store bought rear lights and various blinker patterns. The lights seem to work pretty well at night, but are not bright enough during the day. I have some 4 inch red lights designed to put on a trailer, highway speeds. They are LED so easy to power with a small lithium pack, and the blinker module is easy enough to do.
