This Euro online bike shop is advertising the 604Wwh Vado battery for $979 plus $11 ship, no sales tax. Delivery to California is quoted as June 19-24th. The color matched cover is not included.

Yep. Make it a special size and add a bit of firmware and you can charge what the market will bear. Perhaps add a patent or two...😖

I is carrying a cheapish "water bottle" battery and rigging it as an extender an option? Like a usb to usb phone extender ?

I'm not aware of a way to guarantee that this works for the Como/Vado bikes. Specialized does have an extender battery available for a different ebike series.

My Almost a Son in Law is an EE. I'll ask him, but seriously this shouldn't be difficult. The BMS is already there, the protocols are established, it shouldn't be hard to tell the BMS to add this amount of amps per this many hours, and let the BMS handle it.

All you need is access to the firmware and the hardware interface to access it. Each dealer has this, but not sure they want to share...

I can't figure specialized marketing out. They share, rhey win . In USA anyway. IMHO

Apple built a huge company based on a closed system...just sayin'...😎
True. I was thinking law, not business, Steve was really special.
Anyway, I think a tagline like "Future proof bike supports all major battery extenders" ...beats "expensive proprietary batter extender available on request" if you want to sell a ot of ebikes.

I've got a story about Steve I'll share with you one day...😎

Specialized, Bosch, Yamaha/Giant, Shimano batteries are proprietary because the brands want to take their $$$. I cannot read more post of "Why not a powerbank for my specialized e-bike?" :D

Guys. You connect the charger to the battery. Will the e-bike be able to ride? No. Stop the futile talk about adding own extender to a proprietary system or! Or... Or...

I loved ALF!

Challenge accepted! We will have extended range batteries for the Como/Vado bikes! As soon as enough batteries have been scrapped to take a couple apart and some one leaks the firmware...😎
