Two e-bikes I'd like to see reviewed...

CUBE Agree Hybrid

What I find interesting about both of these bikes is that they are lighter (in the case of the CUBE much, much lighter at around 13kg) than most e-bikes I've seen. I also like the fact that both of these bikes have more-or-less traditional road double drivetrains rather than the goofy 1x drivetrains that seem to dominate the e-bike world.

Even though the batteries are smaller (and the CUBE only has a 250wh battery) the fact that the bikes are so much lighter means you probably can get away with lower levels of pedal assist and still be able to ride as far, or further.

This does seem to be an emerging category and we ought to pay attention. Or maybe you all were and I wasn't.

I have been for the last two years. Drop bar eBikes are without doubt a good ride. I don't see having one that follows the EU specs though, at least where I ride and the average speeds I like to ride at.

. I also like to ride gravel and get into some mellow single track on mine. It makes road riding much more fun and also safer as long as you keep the rubber side down.

Two other bikes that appear to be in the same category:

Pinarello Nytro ... Orbea Gain D10

What these bikes have in common:

Much lighter, usually less than 15kg.
It isn't immediately obvious these are e-bikes.
More conventional drivetrain with better gearing.
Smaller battery, usually around 250wh.

Court just did a review of an 'ultra-lightweight' bike that is easily 5kg heavier than the bikes referred to here.

Those are both attractive and interesting bikes.

With such small batteries, they better be light! Because pedaling more is going to be a must.
