Turbo talk, and not the bike.....

That sign can't be real. No way!
My wife's a retired engineering geologist. During the last rains we took a drive out to this grade. While I slowly drove down the grade she tracked the slope with her 'pocket transit' confirming the road dept's signage. It is a 31% grade! šŸ˜Ž

Maybe not the steepest in the country, but it is the steepest county road here 'bouts.

Rode it twice last year, up and down!

Gotta love the blue tint on the brake rotors from rides like this.

I believe it. There are serious legal requirements to get this right and serious ramifications if they get it wrong. I'd like to ride one of these crazy hills. When I was in Pittsburgh I was on a 900 pound Harley touring bike with and an additional ~100 pounds of kit. I looked at those cobble stones, looked slippery and i said... nah... maybe next time. You got some nerve brother.

My 600Wh battery can get me ~36 miles around our hilly town, unless I ride grades like this too many times;

Max power on any steepish hill is my policy.
There's a highway that runs East/West through the Sierras through the southernmost mountains. About 40 tight switchbacks on the West side. Both my riding buddy and I boiled our brake fluid coming down that thing many years back on motorcycles.

you need this setup.

A little off-topic but I think it's silly that marketers still use the misnomer "turbo" when they are describing something as quick or fast. :p I understand it's a carryover from previous decades when turbo-equipped cars are considered fast.
I like that Shimano calls their Turbo mode, ā€Boostā€! šŸ¤Ŗ

I only use Boost for the very steep hills. Otherwise Iā€™m usually in Eco, with the occasional application of Trail mode for moderate hills or if Iā€™m really pooped.

but do you have the icetech rotors with finned pads and 4 piston calipers make a big difference.
Finned pads, but no icetech rotors!

The calipers aren't 4 piston, but they do have plenty of stopping power!

The best part? The pad heat sink fins are RED šŸ¤£

Here's Canton Ave in Pittsburgh, 37% grade. I've been there, never ridden it on a bike. It part of a yearly bike race called the Dirty Dozen, where they do 12 hills like it. Actually now the do 13, a bakers dozen. Steepest street in the US.

Whoa, some of those guys needed to shift about one third of the way up or earlier!
