Turbo Connect Display Update Mode

I activated Mission Control for my Turbo Vado 4.0 It says that my TCD needs to be updated from13.4.0 to 16.4.0 When I try to update the TCD, Mission Control says I need to put the TCD in Update Mode. I can't find instructions on getting into update mode. Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks

Unfortunately, you need to take it to a Specialized dealer. Usually the update shouldn’t cost anything.

There's always a confusion between the TCD-w (wired) as found in your Vado and TCD (wireless) which is optional for Specialized e-MTBs and SL e-bikes. While the wireless TCD can be updated over-the-air, the wired TCD-w has to be handled by the dealer, as BEC says.

Or it might cost $30 like it just did for me! I wish there was a way to do it myself. I update the firmware on my work drone, why not my e-bike?

On the pre-2022 models Specialized‘s technology was not sophisticated enough to handle owner updates. It’s getting there with the new hardware and software. Unfortunately, there’s not upgrade path for the electronics yet.
