Toe clips for my Vado?

Vado enthusiasts: what’s the smart way to get some cages and straps on my Vado? I’d like a little more connection to my pedals than the platform pedals provide, but I do not want to go clipless.

I tried caged pedals on my first DIY ebike. Frankly, I found them them to be too much trouble to get my shoes into. My set had flat pedal platforms on the reverse side, but these weren't really practical since the cages would then scrape the ground on turns. Clipless is the easiest to use, though they do require cycling shoes.

My current Vado pedals are clipless on one side and flats on the opposite.

Along the same lines as the "old" Power Grips, these straps have become popular recently. No fiddly installation involved, they just attach with Velcro.

I don’t want to wear cycling shoes. I do want to be able to push forward even more than I want to pull upward.

And I want to be able to use the muscles that would push my feet off to the sides without my feet actually moving off to the side.

I accept that the honchos prefer clipless and I understand their reasons for that preference. Just not my cuppa.

Buy good platform (flat) pedals such as Race Face Chester or CrankBrothers Stamp 1. Then you can ride in regular trainers and the grip is as good as with the clips/cage but it is far more safe riding. The secret is the MTB-style pedals are equipped with adjustable (or not) pins that keep the shoe sole in place.

Besides, cycling shoes for flat pedals (specialized but otherwise regular trainers) such as Adidas FiveTen Freerider Pro offer many benefits: improbably good grip and these protect your foot (especially toes) against injuries. Once, I dropped a hammer onto my foot; I had the 510 on my feet by lucky coincidence. I didn't even feel the impact!

CrankBrothers Stamp 7 (this model is an overkill! The 1 does) and Adidas FiveTen Freerider Pro. Note: Stamp 1 are made of a lightweight composite material while the 7s are made of a lightweight alloy.
