Hi gang,
I just got my bike 1 week ago and still running tubes in the tires.
I'm kinda new to mtb biking and reading up a lot about fine tuning the bike for riding.
I'm reading lowest tire pressure possible is best for all mtn trail riding. For best traction on climbs and traction when downhill on fast cornering.
I'm also reading now that given the increases weight of the eMtb from motor and battery, plus sized tires (27.5+ with range from 2.8-3.0" wide tires) would be ideal for the eMtb bike cause you can run lower pressures on the 2.8" tires compared to 2.35" width stock tires.
Question #1
What's the lowest tire pressures anyone has found ideal for tubed 2.35" tires?
Question #2
I may convert to tubeless soon.
What's the lowest pressures tolerable on the tubeless 2.35" wide tires?
I understand I can't run as low a pressure as I would like on these stock 2.35" width tires as I would like. If I had 2.8" width tires I would be able to have pressure down to 20-22 psi on the tubeless plus sizes tires.
Question #3
What's the widest tires I can change to on the stock rims, that will clear the frame and fork easily on lower tire pressure of like 25-30 psi? I've heard 2.5" width tires should work. What do you guys think?
Question #4
If I convert to 2.5" width tubeless 27.5 tires, should I upgrade the rims to wider rims to accommodate lower tires pressures with the 2.5" width Tires? What width rims should I go with in this case?
Here's to spec'ing it out!
