tire pressures for 2016 Sduro allmtn rc 2.35" wide tires?

Hi gang,

I just got my bike 1 week ago and still running tubes in the tires.

I'm kinda new to mtb biking and reading up a lot about fine tuning the bike for riding.

I'm reading lowest tire pressure possible is best for all mtn trail riding. For best traction on climbs and traction when downhill on fast cornering.

I'm also reading now that given the increases weight of the eMtb from motor and battery, plus sized tires (27.5+ with range from 2.8-3.0" wide tires) would be ideal for the eMtb bike cause you can run lower pressures on the 2.8" tires compared to 2.35" width stock tires.

Question #1
What's the lowest tire pressures anyone has found ideal for tubed 2.35" tires?

Question #2
I may convert to tubeless soon.
What's the lowest pressures tolerable on the tubeless 2.35" wide tires?

I understand I can't run as low a pressure as I would like on these stock 2.35" width tires as I would like. If I had 2.8" width tires I would be able to have pressure down to 20-22 psi on the tubeless plus sizes tires.

Question #3
What's the widest tires I can change to on the stock rims, that will clear the frame and fork easily on lower tire pressure of like 25-30 psi? I've heard 2.5" width tires should work. What do you guys think?

Question #4
If I convert to 2.5" width tubeless 27.5 tires, should I upgrade the rims to wider rims to accommodate lower tires pressures with the 2.5" width Tires? What width rims should I go with in this case?

Here's to spec'ing it out!

Optimum tire pressure for tubes varies with terrain, rider weight, bike weight, etc. Too low and you'll pinch-flat, and too high and you'll get bounced around. You could start at, say, 35 rear/30 front and see how that feels. Drop 2-3psi at a time until it gets too squishy or you pinch-flat.

Obviously with tubeless tires you can go much lower. On my non-e-bike I run 16-20 psi in the rear (2.3" tire on 50mm rim) and 10-14 psi up front (3" tire on 50mm rim). On my e-bike I go with 20-25psi front and 25-30psi rear (2.8" tires on 45mm rims).

Thank you for the input.

I'm curious as to what bike you have the 2.8" wide on 45mm rims?

Is it the plus sized sduro all mtn or do you have a similar frame as my 2016 all mtn full suspension rc bike?

I would like to upgrade the wheels to 2.8" wide tires but didn't think possible on my current frame model.

@Duke em My IZIP E3 Peak+ came with 2.8" Kenda knobbies and 45mm rims. Actually, mine is a pre-production sample that has mismatched rims of 45mm and 50mm widths.

How much clearance does your bike have with the current tires? Measure between the seat stays, chain stays, fork slides, and between the tire and chain.

One person recommended I go for wider rims like these to accommodate wider 2.5" tires:

I will have to take those Tire clearance measurements...

That rim has an internal width of 30mm, so it would be a good match for 2.5" tires. I don't have any first-hand experience with Spank's rims, but I'm a big fan of their pedals.
