I want to thank everyone who has helped and made this project a reality with their advice, support and testing. Together we made the smallest charger in the world, capable of charging electric bikes, scooters, skates and more.

For anyone who is interested, but was not part of the project, here is a short summary:

Around 6 months ago we discussed the idea of using the USBC adapters that everyone has for charging phones and laptos to charge our eBikes/eScooters. Since USBC adapters are now already capable of supplying up to 240W this makes them more powerful than most stock chargers you get with your ride, so the question was obvious - why not use that to charge our rides?

This lead us on a journey of developing a charger that is capable of using the USBC adapter's output and transform it into the correct voltage and current to charge the batteries. We made two versions of the and did extensive testing to prove functionality and safety.

The end result is a charger that is smaller than your phone, fits inside your pocket, and charges just as fast as any other charger you might use.

This project proves that communities like this are capable of having great ideas and bringing them to life.

This is being marketed over on the other bike forums too, same blurb, costs $150 and isn't a charger but a USB powered DC/DC converter. You'll still need a charger to plug into it for it to work so the last picture is highly misleading. This is what you'll actually need.

That’s a really neat idea. The thing I like most is not having to carry another bulky charger on longer rides or trips.

If something like this works reliably with the USB-C adapters people already carry for laptops, I can see it being genuinely useful for touring. Nice project.

That’s a really impressive community project. The size is probably the biggest advantage here, especially for anyone who travels with an e-bike and wants to avoid carrying a bulky stock charger. Getting the USB-C adapter to deliver the correct voltage and current safely is the part that makes this genuinely useful. It’s also great that you tested multiple versions before calling it finished. A pocket-sized charger that can provide the same charging performance as the original is a huge improvement for portability. Great work to everyone involved!
