people are starting to wake up and seeing less need for the "demi-god" mechanics from the foot of "Olympus" and the silvery tongued sales people( on the same plane as realtors IMHO) spoiler alert-they are not your friend!

Quite, thumbing their nose at cheap Russian gas was just the final nail in the coffin, they were one of the world leaders in solar panel manufacture back in 2005, now crickets. China's eating everyone's lunch.
The war drums over Russia and how it's threatening the West is just a cover story for their desire to want to march East and steal the resources like they tried in 1940. The Germans just can't help themselves it seems, they go regularly on the warpath.
 
Im just reading that if the drought around the Lake Mead Area continues to deadpool and they keep taking the water for irrigation then you have 37 days till the LA Bay loses two thirds of its water supply, followed by Tucson and Pheonix weeks later.

Is this big news over there, is there a back up?

Gloriously unrealistic, but a politician making these announcements on day one is living in a post climate concern reality.

Lol! When the government bans all ICE powered vehicles by a certain date instead of just letting the market and consumers decide, it becomes political. And before that, they offered large subsidies on EVs paid for with tax dollars. That said, oil has a finite supply and we have to move off of ICE engines eventually. Hybrid would have been a good interim solution, but the government is forcing EVs on the public and regulating anything else out of existence.

I agree except you skipped the part where we have been subsidizing both petroleum and the legacy auto industry all of our lives. So if 'subsidies are bad' then they certainly are equally bad.

How many bailouts have the big 3 automakers in the states had in the last fifty years? I'm sure any initial guess would be pretty low.

Poor old "Rush Dumbo" used to say "we cant hurt the Earth because its too big" apparently we can screw the fuzz on the peach skin we inhabit[ a butterfly cannot beat its wings, without the troubling of a star]🤔

I was not a fan of the auto bailouts. "Too big to fail" just means their lobbyists have spent a lot of their profits to buy politicians.

funny thing was I used to tell my well off "cousin in law" when he was down at tech with a couple professor weirdos,experimenting on how to burn H2 in a PT6,burning the stuff is no problem its the production you have to go after,in the interim Hybrid vehicles are the best bet( seems like I was sorta right) and I have proved right on a fair amount of things;I used to subscribe to a pickup 4wd forum,I postulated that Chevy could have made a low cost unibody truck,front WD with a turbo 3 cyl engine using the "Atlas" family of inline engines-they laughed me off the page- Ford made us a very similar pickup almost exactly like that,I guess he who laughs last laughs best!🤣
