The transition

The new Salt batteries from CATL appear to be absolute game changers.
This is the worlds largest battery producer and its claims are being taken seriously.
-40 to +60 retaining 90% performance, complete protection from thermal runaway.
10 min charge possible without degredation.

If this plays out ICE is history, but next we have to build super grids and control behaviour to charge them.
Im pretty sure theyve got the behaviour bit in the bag.

In China you back into a space and a robot swaps your battery with a fresh one. They are a decade ahead.
They have been working hard on energy for 30 years. We in the west have been backpedaling for 20. Their 10 year lead is now growing exponentially.

the US auto industry is in the dumps, hina has ate their breakfast, lunch and dinner, they can vend a similair ( nicer model of practically any car for 1/4 the price, when they destroy our manufacturing base China will be able to do as they please without the the threat of a mighty US industrail giant out building them( remember what actually defeated the Germans in Europe?

I do not really care if a product like a TV or fridge is made in Ohio or Mexico. No difference to me. Mexico is just a little closer. The only people that make their own stuff are Amish. Everyone else outsources. Are you really going to knit your own socks? China, imbedded in the word Ma-chine, has three times more manufacturing capacity than the EU and North America combined. Who wants to be a factory worker these days. Much of it is automated with robots anyway. Do you want to pay for hand knit socks made by Amish virgins? One pair for the cost of a lifetime supply made by robots in China?

we vote with our wallets I had a patriotic bent back in the seventies to buy American support the old good companies, couldn't do it then certainly cant do it now.

Remember when the last 'American TV' was a curved screen RCA CRT with a trip wired remote and the Sony's were so much better for watching MTV? If you had an RCA no one would visit to watch a game or see music vids.
I never did like RCAs phosphors the blue always seemed faded. The old everlasting Zenith and Sonys were the best(IMHO)

I don't much care where the products I buy originate. I do care about supply chain disruptions making it difficult to get these products because they are all made overseas.
What happens when war, tariffs, weather, etc disrupt the worldwide flow of goods & materials?
I think it critical that we here in the US are capable of producing these products, when necessary, within our borders regardless of the cost. This is especially true for things critical to national defense.

trouble is we have to import the workers to make them and feed us.
