It's a bit of an inside joke about the weather here.
But I can tell you that I moved to Calgary in 1992, and I've been snowed on in every single month.

Of course the snow doesn't stay in April through October (and we don't get ice), but we do get wacky weather this close to the Rockies.
@Prairie Dog (Art) lives about an hour and a half north and gets weather that's a bit more normal, but can be silly too.

Most people have heard of the Calgary Stampede, and there's a Golf Tournament I played in for years that took place on the final Thursday of the exposition. That's mid July and we were snowed out.
We rescheduled to late September and it was 90F and I got a sunburn...

It was 90F (31C) yesterday, and 75F (23C) today. The weekend is getting hot (for here) at 94F (34C) .

What a lot of you south of here are experiencing would cause most of the people I know to move away.
I was living (really a 10 week holiday) in NW France during the 2003 European heatwave, and I do what I can to never do that again.
40C (104F) is way too hot, especially in Paris surrounded by stone and concrete.
At least the place we were living and spent most of our time was right on the Atlantic in Port Louis in Brittany.

• SR Suntour NCX Suspension Post - I use this sometimes when I am not trail/MTB riding
• Lights, tools and a myriad of stuff - mostly good.

I haven't bought too many duds, other than a Kool Stop Bead Jack from Amazon.
Doesn't really work that well with 2.6" tires.
Gave it away to a roadie friend.

My Ergon grips are heaven. I had a hard time finding the one for one side with a shifter so I bought the only pair around that are for two shifters. Doesn’t matter. They are great and have the little wing tip that keeps my hands where they need to stay.

Just wanted to update this... I LOVE my new seat roll.

I had a couple of good old seat bags for essentials (Specialized and Topeak), but they both included velcro loops to attach around the seat post. Normally this is fine, but now that I have a suspension seat post, they just didn't work. I had started riding with my rear bag all the time, and it was annoying on shorter rides or the occasional commute to the studio.

Enter the Silca Grande Americano. Sturdy construction, and lots of room. The BOA closure works great, and gives a lot of flexibility for expanding what fits in there.

It also looks less conspicuous than most seat bags because it doesn't have that "nose" running down the seat post.

I also love that instead of fiddling in a pouch, as a roll it also becomes a work area to put bits and bobs. This came in handy this past weekend when I helped out a couple who were having (mostly minor) problems with their bikes at a local park.

Now I'm just waiting for my Wolf Tooth kit, so I can retire the old Topeak survival box.

I recently acquired a Giant Recon rear light and attached it to the saddle rails of the Trance. The discrete location doesn’t impede lowering of the dropper post and allows riding buddies to spot me up ahead on the trail. Should work great for night rides too.

Back to basics. Bought a SRAM X-3 derailleur takeup. The old one was looking worn on the teeth @ 7500 miles, but when I ran a tree branch through it on the sidewalk 7/7, that was the end. Bent the frame. Walked to the grocery dollar store & bank for 3 days until new takeup arrived from Iowa. Old takeup was SRAM S-4 but only "8 speed long arm" SRAM takeup modernbike stocked was X-3. Made it work by running some screw in all the way against the frame that was all the way out on the old takeup.
On same shipment bought 2 jaguar slick stainless brake cables. Which saved me 3 shipping days after the rain burned the pins off the motor controller 7/14 and the replacement controller required apply=open brake handles instead of apply=closed brake handles the burnt controller used. I had cut the old brake cables too short to get the ferrules off & back on again after putting the head in the new handles. Whew!
Been without electric drive 7/14 until now. Bought some components, nothing matches up. ASI controller is a hazard since the pins burn off in the rain, and the melted pin destroyed the MAC12t motor harness , too. New controller from ebay "directimports" is labeled in Chinese and half the connectors don't match to anything. Especially the throttle & hall effect pickup connectors. Old ebikeling controller (2018) will mount under seat better protected from rain, has bigger pins & better insulation between pins, but new Bafang hub motor harness is so short it won't reach from front fork to the seat. Bought some no-name connectors 8/5 to extend the hall-effect pickup wires, since the julet to 6 pin white connector harness converter ends just above the front fender. **** hard to search e-bay for connectors that have no name; had to look at x00 pictures of round connectors to find rectangular ones. TJ or SH called them Molex connectors, which they are not; I have the Molex factory catalog. The ebay vendor calls them "ebike scooter drone connectors", how original. Bought some 8 wire 24 ga cable Friday, and green+yellow+blue 16 ga wire from Iowa surplussales. Also some 2 ohm 30 watt wirewound resistors to limit current from 48 v battery to 36 v bafang motor. 7 amps would drop 14 volts, which would be just fine into a "500 w" motor.

In addition to the Archer D1X electronic shifter mentioned by Deacon Blues in post# 7, I would have to say my best purchase was my Jones H bars. I chose the SG-2.5 which gives me the perfect rise and sweep for maximum comfort.

I spend SO much time going back and forth on new handlebars (the bike came with pretty relaxed 35° backsweep MJ bars).

Ended up putting the SQ Labs 30X 16° backsweep (45mm high rise) on my bike about a month ago. They recommend cutting down to 720 minimum, but after a bunch of ride testing, I took them down to 690. With the 30° ShockStop stem, I can comfortably get into the more relaxed 4th position they show in the graphic below (palms resting on grips), but still get aggressive without my wrists splaying outwards.

Now looking for grips with a little less meat on the palm rests to replace the Ergon GC10.

With the new bars, I think something with about a third less meat would work better.
