No doubt that they are working on it the uptick to 250nm is what was needed. I use a Schlumpf bb drive on my hub bikes that provide a gear advantage of 1:65 to 1 and 2.25 to 1 over drive. Would be hard to imitate that in a motor drive perhaps but it does effectively do what that 2spd internal cassette hub does.
In the 90's I had a cargo type ICE bike with a 20" rear wheel. In order to get a sufficiently high gear to stay on top of the assist I used a Sachs 3x7 internal hub that with a 46t chainring I was able to get like a 140" high gear which was plenty. That bike ran power through the drivetrain also and it proved to be well up to the task I found. Point being that there are many 20" wheeled folding eBikes being sold could benefit from a gear type transmission as well.
