I mix it up. I ride to the park, do tai chi for an hour then ride some more.
That is my plan. Been practicing tai chi for decades ( I got too old and beat up for conventional martial arts) ...bikes work different muscles...or same muscles in different ways...

I am aware that after 45 minutes ride, my body begins to burn my fat :) Love long rides! And taking rests, which doubles my time spent outdoor. So, if I have ridden for 3 hours, I stay 6 hours outdoor. Health effects are shockingly good!

I went for my first ride since putting it down the other day. Did almost 10 miles today. Funny how some movement hurts and others don’t. Getting up from a laying down position hurts a bunch but getting on the bike and riding, not so much. Almost at twice my mileage from June!

I ride to the golf course every morning around 630am, either play or hit a bucket of balls, then jump on the beast and ride for about 30 more minutes. Into the home office for paperwork, then lunch, nap and by then it's happy hour!

I do my tai chi form [Yang family] after my ride.
I do also practice Yang style. Started with Chang Man Ching's "Crane style" in the 80s or 90s, took some traditional Yang long form style and learned the basics of Yangia Michuan "Snake style" in London 5 years back. I've taught a few "senior citizens" classes where doing the short form correctly seemed important, but mostly work out with an old akido guy who is almost as beat up as I am, and we just do whatever strikes us. Often just work on one or two moves for a hour and go for coffee. 😁 The coffee gets the heart rate up ...

Actually in the middle of doing taichi right now. Eleven year journey that started with the Yang 24 but my bad form kept me reinjuring my knee. I learned Northern Wu style (I am listed in a book somewhere in Beijing I was told), and added Chen Man Ching Yang style, and Chen Xiao Jia (small frame), both of which I am an assistant instructor. My base art is Shaolin Northern Dragon (20 yrs), hence Sifu Ben. Still on the quest to be any good. Biking is great rehab for my middle aged knees!

What happened to "30+ minutes: Really thinking about buying that Suntour suspension seat post and Cloud 9 seat on Amazon Prime."? :)

We are so far off topic that we should discuss Tai chi in an off topic thread ... maybe other exercises? or should it be just TaiChi Qigong?

Yesterday I pulled muscle in my groin doing some hedge trimming on a steep part of our yard. I woke up a bit stiff and sore. I cautiously headed out on a ride this morning, thinking that I might have to turn back if the pain got worse. It was definitely talking to me as I headed out. An hour out I was feeling pretty darn good. Two hours out I was on fire, riding hard, putting out the watts and grinning ear to ear. By the time I got home I had been going for three hours had put 49 miles behind me and crossed the 800 mile mark for the month of July. I love riding and an ebike makes it all unmitigated fun.

Over 35 mph on a bike...and you are "old enough to know better", I believe? And 800 miles per month? Double wow.
