Temperature-controlling material for clothes?

I've bought some fantastic clothes from Dickies online in the past few years including some pants of amazingly tough but fairly light material that is very water resistant which I wear for biking every day except in hot weather.
I have some shirts of a brilliant lightweight material that has xylitol ( the cooling stuff in chewing gum) and great vents and nice styling. Also some super nice canvas shirts. All of them were on at rock bottom price sales.
But for the past year I haven't seen anything special.
Now they have this.
"Fortify your workwear with performance driven solutions in Dickies Temp-iQ® 365 Long Sleeve Tee. This all-season tee is backed by innovative Temp-iQ® 365 technology designed to maintain the ideal microclimate between you and your workwear all year round. The advanced body temperature control traps heat when you're cold and releases heat when you are warm, making this long sleeve tee the ultimate foundation to finish any shift strong. Plus, you'll achieve superior sun protection with UPF 40+ and thumbholes for added coverage, as well as an anti-odor finish that keeps you feeling fresh all day. Doubling down on protection, the drop tail hem gives you more coverage in the back, while side vents allow for optimal breathability. Designed to maximize mobility, the underarm gusset makes reaching and climbing a breeze.

Although I'm not tempted by the price ($80), I wonder if this material is going to be "a thing".

I really like wool, like a thin merino wool long sleeve with a high neck. The only thing with the wool is it doesn't absorb moisture and probably the above doesn't either. So if you sweat it can run down the body without being absorbed, kind of a weird feeling. Otherwise I just stay with the cotton long sleeve tee's.

Too bad you're not in Canada. TheBay has had some merino clearances on. $24 for men's thin merino sweater. Women's clearance sales mostly all snapped up though.

I’m full up on woolies. Few years ago there were deals to be had like ibex going out of business.

I wear mens clothes anyway, unless it is something very useful.

All I'm looking for are those pants with the zip off legs, that are then shorts. And not the ones that look like 70s roller skate short shorts with the legs off! These zip off leg pants to shorts were briefly popular in the skate board culture. Such a great idea.

Places like REI have those pants. Colombia also has a version. But it seams that the legs are always too short for me. I also like wool. I wear it daily. Usually with a durable mostly cotton farmer type works shirt XLT that has been tailored and a cotton T. Right now in Coastal N. California it is cold and windy. I am just back from a ride and had one of these, which are amazing. It is super lightweight, wind proof but with mesh under the arms and a ventilation flap across the back. It is made from a soft textured see through fabric and I get complements all the time. It becomes what ever the color of the shirt under it. It is also waterproof. It fits into one fist sized ball.

I like North Face for those. I bought 5 pair of them on sale after my original pair lasted more than a decade. And the zips are color-coded :)

I just ordered another merino sweater at $24. The first one is smooth and flawless, not a single thread out of place.

Thanks for the shorts/pants location's everyone! Off to the outlet mall I go this weekend! I'm a touchy feel guy and want to try stuff on in person. I once ordered Prison Blues brand jeans fron their site and the sizing was waaaaay off! I'll probably get shanked for returning them but it's a chance I took.
