Technical hurdle putting a new free wheel on the rad Rover.

My bike tech is finding this to be a bit of a challenge.

His free wheel removal tool will not fit over the axle nor over the electrical connections.

He did Dremel out his removal tool but it was still inadequate.

Question: Does he need a thin wall freewheel removal tool and where can we get one?

Question: Does he need to remove the axle to get at the freewheel?

Any other suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue, and came to find there are dozens of different freewheel sockets out there. I ordered 3 from Amazon which looked like they should fit, but they did not. So I solved the problem by using a stout pair of 90 degree needle nose pliers, inserted the 2 "legs" into the detents in the freewheel nut, and it twisted right off! I would definitely suggest NOT using any locktite when putting back together! The rotation of the nut is opposite of the wheel rotation, which keeps it snug!

You NEVER use LOCKTITE when installing any Freewheel and you are supposed to GREASE the threads for easy removal in the future

Figure I'll put this link into this thread in case someone is searching in the future…More info on how to potentially approach this technical issue.
