taking your wheelchair with you

I have magnum metro plus step thru. My spinal cord injury prevents me from walking, but I can ride that bike, and it is quite a feeling of freedom. It took a while to get fairly steady, but after 200 miles I felt ready to try taking a chair with me, so I could do more than just loops out and back from the house. I wanted to be able to go to the library which has no handicap van parking, for example. I also thought I might could trailer some items home in the chair. I have chair with mtn biking tires on it for outdoors(craigslist special) which I wanted to tow.
The 'harness' is made of solid 1/2inch aluminum rod. Push pins hold the harness to the bike pivot and to the chair. The pivot is made from old chair parts cobbled together. The test today was a success. Now it needs to warm a bit.

I'm glad for you and your new mobility. I would strongly suggest more color, flags, or increased visibility. With your condition, I would suspect a minor accident on the bike could be a very serious event. Let people know you are coming! For cars, other riders, and dog walkers!

Thanks, yes. You are correct. More visibility is called for. Pictures from first test ride. I have some of those rydesafe stickers to put on, along with plans for a flag on a stick. I always ride with front and rear lights on and have phone with me. There are dog walkers etc, and I want to let them know I am coming, especially from behind, but since most of them have ear buds jammed in their ears, nothing short of a truck air horn is going to alert them. Still have not figured out that one. I live in a small town with lots of pedestrians/joggers/strollers/bikers so folks are generally aware and courteous.

Thank you. I am excited to expand the use of my bike beyond loops. Now have to learn how to lock it up, for which I have read about in EBR.
