Stop me from spending $4500 on a 2015 model please!

So im determined to get a bike with a middrive and Nuvinci Hsync automatic shifting system. I love the idea of setting my preferred cadeance speed and letting the bike handle the rest,

There is only one model that I like look wise and thats the Cube SUV hybrid 27.5. I love the 2.4 fatter tires, the look, the colors!

I found a place that stocks it for $4500. Motostrano has the same model for $5000. I feel strange about the idea of spending that kind of money on a 2015 model and not to mention, warranty/servicing concerns.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Different models?

I do not see any different brands or models comparable, so if you want something somewhat unconventional and rare, you just have to decide if it is worth the potential risks. I do not think the year matters, other than the selling price seems high for an older model year bike. But perhaps you can persuade the seller to come down; it is usually in the seller's interest to not hang on to old stock for a long time.

FWIW, Bike24 in Germany has a 16" 2017 for significantly less money, but they do not ship to the USA.

My main concern would be how the battery has been treated over the last 3 yrs. Even a brand new battery if stored improperly without re-upping the charge to an 80% level once in awhile can have issues.

Thanks Nova and JR

I saw that bike from Bike24 and imagine my disappointment when I realized they dont ship here!!

I will ask the seller to go down on the price. Any tips on how much lower should I ask for? I would also ask about the battery

I see a lot of people saying that an ebike will likely be a 2 to 3 year ride before you have to get a new battery, or upgrade to new technology. As long as you don't mind spending a couple thousand a year, it's a go. A good friend always says, "It's cheaper than a bass boat!"

Propose $3500 instead. It's a buyer's market in the US. All they can say is 'no' or propose another price.

Remember, it's from 2015.
NuVinci is going out of business ; I'll take this bike off your hands for $2250 . :)

Store opens today at 10:00am. I will call and update how it went :D

EDIT: Seller refuses to go down and Motostrano don't have it anymore! so much for thaT!

I think it may have been a blessing in disguise. I very recently purchased an almost identical model, Cube SUV Race 500. 2017 model. After a week it's back at the shop, there seems to be a common problem with the h-sync automatic gear changing on nuvinci. Which is maybe why most models of bikes use the manual nuvinci twist shifter. The system keeps 'forgetting' the calibration settings & it has to be constantly calibrated over and over. Shame as I loved the design of the bike & the idea of automatic gear changing. I'm now looking at the Trek Super Commuter+ 9 as an alternative as I can currently get the 2018 model for a considerable discount. I'll be test riding at my local store tomorrow. I also have my eye on R&M Charger with Nuvinci.
