Spider style Rad eBike

We went with a Rad Rover for 6'2" me and a Rad Mini for her since she is 4'10". We love the eBikes, already improving how we get around.
The Mini was still uncomfortable. The seat low enough to touch the ground was to cramped to peddle.
So, I hoped moving the seat back and extending the handlebars would help. A banana seat, hi-rise handlebars = spider bike from the 60's.

Not only does it look cool. It worked. She can extend her legs peddling and can comfortably touch the ground at a stop.

We look fwd to seeing you on the roads and trails,
scott

if you dont mind i would like to post this on my Facebook page! this looks friggin sweet!:D

You are not adjusting the seat correctly. The seat should not be so low that your feet can touch the ground while seated. When you are pedaling, the knee should just be slightly bent while the pedal is in its lowest position. When you stop, you slide forward off of the seat and put your feet on the ground. When you start pedaling again, just put your foot on the pedal at the lowest position, push off with the other foot and get back up into the seat. Sitting too far back in the seat with the pedals in front of you is a very inefficient position for pedaling as your weight is not over the pedals and you have to use pure leg strength to move the pedals.

You're assuming she pedals. With laid back ape hanger bars, hard pedaling appears to be of low concern.

for a 4’11” woman that’s prob about the right seat height. the riders ass is usually way back near the sissy bar extending the leg reach even when the bike saddle height is low. this is an homage to a schwinn stingray which was meant to be a low rider chopper type cruiser and not a race or commuter upright bike. looks great!

Not my style.

But I can definitely appreciate the originality and customization. :)

It's pretty boring to look at pictures of bone stock Rad (or any) ebikes.
Love the bike. Great idea/execution....

Style is going to appeal more to those of us using/riding bikes in the 60's......:)
